I don’t know if anyone has info on this.
But living where it gets cold in the winter time, we supplement our house’s heating with a wood stove on the weekends.

Other than the fact that the air will get dryer and that we’ll need to get a humidifier working to put some moisture back into the air...is it a health hazard for a macaw?

We’ve had our CAG for nearly 25 years and he’s been ok but I read somewhere that macaws have a more sensitive respiratory system.

BTW, the wood stove’s door has a seal and the unit is in a different room in the house.

i would say it would be fine for yo to keep your macaw in the house with the wood stove. the idea of the humidifier is a great one. just it would probably be a good idea to make sure that your parrots don't inhale any smoke. we have a wood fire at my house as well with no problems.

Keep the smoke out and make sure you put a humidifier in the bird room. They are from the rain forest and require a higher humidity than you.

Extra baths during the winter if the room is toasty is a good idea also. Mist them daily.
