Yay!!! Finally!!! Instead of making chop I decided to scale back and do things individually for an alacarte/mixnmatch approach. I got a box of organic spinach/kale/super green mix at the grocery and made chop cubes just from that--nothing added. I also got a chaoyte squash and a sweet potato and cut them into chunks and cooked them. Diced the celery (so he only gets a little since it's not the best for him), and started on these this week. Depending on mood he's either eaten or tossed the chaoyte but a lot of that was fishing for the good bits. When i put it back in his bowl he has eaten it later. It hasnt been seasoned at all. No coconut oil, no pepper seasoning, no nuts...just the cubes and salad mix, and he's EATING it!!! Or at least it looks like he is...his beak is a mess, the table is a mess, and the bowl is empty. I'll take it as a win.

Chalk up another win for me!! it's 11pm and he's eating chaoyte squash, kale/spinach chop, and birdie bread (aka Costco's organic Aussie bites muffins). Was a 12 hour day for me and I was able to dash in around 5pm to add the muffin to the veggies I gave him this morning. Could be he's really hungry---but he's eating what I gave him. As for keeping his weight....well, that's not going to work so well. It seems my husband is trying to win Wrangler over by stuffing him full of seeds while Im gone. Noticed that the pistachio's were almost gone and I only give him one or two a day....

Go light on the nuts and seeds. Too much protein can cause toe tapping. The majority of an Ekki's diet should be fruits and veggies.

Congratulations on the food win! That's big! One thing, though. I've read from quite a few sources that spinach has properties that tend to block a bird's ability to absorb calcium. Occasional servings of spinach aren't a big deal, but I wouldn't make it a staple of Wrangler's diet.

And Greytness is correct. Try to keep those seeds to a minimum. Treats and such.
