Hello,

Well, all went well at Willow's vet appt yesterday. The vet drew blood for testing and we will know the results in a few days. She was a really good girl, until the towel came out:( Vet wants me to work on that with her.

She only weighed 790 grams. Vet said that was fine for her age and said she looked great. I chose not to have her sexed as in my mind she is a girl.

We are getting along so great. She gets a little needy in the evenings and we cuddle and play and she is content to sleep on my knee while I watch TV or read. She loves to play on my bed and loves every new toy that I have given her.

So far so good!!! My husband travels some with work and I am usually very lonely. Not any longer. I have Willow!!!

Yay Willow!!! It's funny you say "only" 790g LoL! Vino weighs about 210 and Spot weighed in at 426g today at the vet. It really shows the size difference between parrot species :)

That is funny...never thought about it before. But I do think she is on the small side for a blue and gold:)

you have a friend for life with Willow. i just took Taki, my b&g to the vet yesterday for his arthritic leg and his weight was 879g. he is 18 months old. when the doctor came in, he started "barking" and ran up my arm to get away. he does NOT like people in lab coats.

That is funny. Willow tries to say "step up". And when I vacuum(which is everyday)our dogs bark. I say "Enough" to them every time. Today when I turned off the vacuum, Willow said "NUF" in a really stern voice. It was cute.

That bird is so special to me. I think my kids(ages 22,20,and 11) are a little jealous:) And hubby is too. But they will adjust:)

Why do they think he has an arthritic leg at 18 months? Hope it gets better.

I would love a B&G one day, they are such gorgeous creatures :)

Yes they sure are. I have wanted one for years but new I couldn't handle it with raising three kids. Now that they are bigger, I am ready.

Glad that Willow did well for her well bird checkup. She is a beautiful B & G. I understand about waiting for your dream parrot. I have wanted a RFM since 1997 and December 9th during our worst snowstorm of the year we drove to the airport to pick up a almost 4 month old RFM we named Valentino.

After we got home and began to settle him in I took him out of his crate and sat with him on my arm for a few moments. He was so friendly and I am sure he was stressed out also because he just stayed perched on my hand while I talked and sang to him. After a while I brought him to my chest and began petting him. I started crying because I could not believe he was finally home. Lupe videoed that moment but I am to embarrassed to ever upload it. I am sure Valentino was wondering why I was crying.

I am sure you are going to enjoy many many years with Willow. There will be ups and downs, trials and tribulations, the relationship will forever be adjusting, changing, sometimes all is wonderful and there will be times when you think about Macaw for dinner but in the end it is the challange and work of keeping the relationship wonderful and loving I find to be the best part of having a parrot in my life. There is nothing like love from a parrot because that love is earned and never to be taken for granted.

Here is a picture of the day we brought Valentino home. He is fluffing his head feathers. I love it when he does that and that earned his nick name Mr. Poofy Head

Thanks everyone...Your RF is gorgeous. If I ever dare add to the family, that is one that would be on my list. I cried too, all the way home from the breeders. I was totally amazed at the beautiful creature that was now in my care. All my non bird friends think I am nuts, so I am glad I have this forum to share.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I am so ready for Spring. Willows new harness will be here on Monday and I hope I can get it on her. She is pretty willing for just about anything else done to her, so hopefully we can figure that out too.
