Hi all ive got a wild senegal, hes around 5-10 yrs old. Im after some advice on how to make him tame. Hes been in the family for 3 yrs ive had him for around 4 months. He's very skittish/wary of people but he will take food from me. If i try to get him to step up he backs away as if scared im going to hurt him. Hes in good health churpy and trys to talk but not very well.
To try to get him used to me heres what ive done:
Ive put a chair next to his cage and i spend hours every day talking to him ive also removed his food from the cage which is left open all the time. when im sat next to his cage i put his food on my leg and hes come and sat on my leg quite a few times although very wary takes him a while to come but does in the end.
I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas on how to get him hand tame and stop him being scared???
