Thanks Antoinette, my only regret is that I wasn't the one there taking the pics.....lol

There is just something about a wild bird in flight.

So free, so wonderful. It just makes my heart smile. :D

Wow, amazing pictures! :) You get so used to seeing these birds as pets, sometimes you forget that they're out there in the wild. Thanks for sharing!

It's amazing how you take things for granted. I witness seeing the galah's like this on a daily basis and cockatoos, hundreds of them. The Toos are viewed as a problem in the city as they can be very destructive. They attack the wooden window frames and fences.

Reducing cockatoo damage to trees, fixtures, houses, sports grounds and the environment

I have seen this first hand,my sister loves birds and used to put out seed for them and if she was late they would start to peck on the windows and the guttering. She thought she better stop as the neighbours were complaining and when she stopped all hell broke lose! They totally destroyed her outdoor furniture, the window frames and the guttering. Their attacks lasted about a month and then they just stopped coming. Despite this we both still love seeing them in their natural habitat.

Great photos Bobby, thanks for posting! I certainly try not to take seeing these birds in the wild for granted, I am mesmerised by them every time I see them. The Galahs always make me laugh, they are so silly

Had a couple of sulphurs sitting watching me plod around in the backyard this morning, they make the funniest faces when they are curious.

I have been trying to get some photos of the flock of yellow tail black too's that are around to share with you all, but i never have my camera on me when they show up :p I think I have found where they are nesting in a nearby gorge though, so maybe I will be able to get them on camera soon ;)

Wow, those are amazing photos; thanks for sharing!
So beautiful and free...

lol it's funny to see people being amazed by a flock of galahs.

My boyfriend's sister has a pet Galah called Charlie. Whenever her youngest, Emily, sees some galahs, she always says, "Look at all the Charlies!"

I used to go to the australian national university in canberra, and there were always loads and loads of crimson rosellas and eastern rosellas, a few king parrots, a couple of small parrots I didn't know the name of (maybe grass parrots or something?) and of course a million and one cockies and galahs.

At my old apartment in sydney, everyday there would be twenty or fifty rainbow lorikeets landing on my balcony ... they were so beautiful ... it's the only thing I miss about Sydney. They don't seem to live as far west as I am now. Sigh.

Living in Aus I guess we take our beautiful wildlife for granted sometimes :)

Thanks for those incredible pics, Bob!

QuantumCat, Australia is such an amazing place. You're so fortunate to live out there. I might stop by some time. ;)
