In an effort to fill up my self-impossed Netflix quota this week, I'm watching BBC's Wild China documentary series. It's soooooooooo good.
It's not just about birds, but how the Chinese interact with their environment and wildlife. The were just showing an elderly Monglian nomad who hunts with a golden eagle. The eagle was amazingly beautiful and you could tell that there was bond between the two. The man will release the eagle soon and won't hunt any longer, but it was just amazing seeing the two of them on his little shaggy horse. They seemed to be very close in size.
I'm a sucker for the conveniences of the modern world, but the supposedly "primitive" societies seem to really have a grasp on how we need to work with Nature.
If any of you get a chance, I strongly recommend that you watch it. It's an instant streaming option on Netflix if you have a membership.
