Parrots
Mango: Male cockatiel, Ruby: Female eclectus
Here are some parrot photos that i have taken these holidays. these were all taken in Euroa Victoria Australia. hope you like them as they are beautiful birds and i just wanted to share the natural beauty of Australia's parrots. i was very lucky to see the gang gang cockatoos as they are generally a very aloof bird species. So anyway i hope you like them and they show you the abundance of Australia's parrots. :D

btw: If you do want more photos feel free to pm me and i can send you more. Also if anyone knows the exact species of the grass parakeet feel free to tell me what it is.

Wow William, what a treat to be able to see wild Gang Gangs! Beautiful... and King Parrots, and an Eastern Rosella :). I can imagine how exciting it is to see them in the wild. Feel free to post more in this thread.

What she said! I believe she is correct on the species as well :)

Love these photos!

Thanks for sharing. Something I hope to do someday is travel somewhere I can see parrots 'in the wild'. :)

William, thank you for sharing the photos! Beautiful, feel free to post many more!

I wish I could cuddle all of them! They're beautiful!

Not parrot's but thought these might be interesting ;). Saw this Brush Tailed possum while on a recent camping trip in Tasmania.

These red rumped grass parrots are such funny little birds, haha :D. every day without fail before sunset this flock lands on this exact spot on the powerlines. They are super cute and make some lovely sounds as they chatter about:gcc:. They truly are a dash of colour(sorry about the dark images)

Wow! Lovely!

Australia is such a wonderful country for parrot lovers. It was known as the Terra Psittacorum- the land of parrots by early explorers.
As someone has said, the rosella is Eastern Rosella- which in my opinion is the most beautiful of all of Australia's Psittacids.

Really lovely ! Thanks for sharing :yellow1::yellow1::yellow1:

Thanks William! So nice to see our "companion parrots" in their idealized environment.

Yep, we have eastern rosella and crimson rosella around here! They are such fast flyers! They are very quiet (in comparison to the cockatoo's anyway :D) There are also musk lorikeets which have the most iridescent green plumage!

On trips to Tasmania, I have also been fortunate enough to see Tasmania green rosella and yellow-tailed black cockatoos as well. The yellow-tailed black cockatoos almost look and sound like hawks:eek:. while they are flying around. They are very big birds with a very slow wing beat like a hawk (while riding the wind). Thank you so much for all the very kind comments :60:

Here's an example of their call, sounds a bit like a hawk or BOP to me
