Why would ANYONE..... :(

Horrendous and beyond grotesque. I cannot string together sufficient adjectives and epithets to convey my disgust and sadness.

The answer, unfortunately, is just to watch them fall out of the tree...

There is a segment of the population that has no qualms about using living things as target practice. These two were apparently feeding their babies at the time. But, hey, "it's just a bird!"

Upsets my stomach as well... but I can't change the world.

My NEIGHBOR down the street had his macaw in an outdoor aviary cage in the back yard and the friggin' neighbor's kids shot that bird!

I don't understand it either.

Have y'all read Roald Dahl's book "The Magic Finger"? Read it--it's a book for children, a little ghoulish somehow, but a satisfying response to this kind of human behavior.

This just literally made me physically sick to the stomach.

Police investigating macaws shot, killed in Coral Gables

These people rank up there with the people who set dogs on fire and we slap them on the wrist. It is NOT okay and there needs to be some serious consequences. I personally vote for an eye for an eye. I put them up HIGH in q tree and push them off. Sorry, it makes me mad!! Get a job, a hobby or both!

UPDATE:

$10,000 Reward Offered in Macaw Killings in Coral Gables
An anonymous donor has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the shooting deaths of two macaws, Coral Gables Police said Thursday.
The macaws, parrots known for their long tails and colorful feathers, were found last week in the 200 block of U.S. 1 just east of Grand Avenue in the median. They may have been nesting in a palm tree, where there were also two babies.
... Police said one of the birds was shot in the head and the other in the face. They believe the birds were killed with either a small caliber rifle or BB gun.
The shooting deaths of the birds have gotten a lot of reaction from the community, so police and fire crews returned to the area more than a week later, to make sure the other parrots who hang out there are okay.
"Coral Gables Police has been excellent, because the couple of people that got involved, they're major animal lovers and they were very upset about this," said Karin Lee with the Bird Lovers Club.
Residents are baffled why anyone would shoot the birds and they hope this case brings attention to an even bigger problem with the helpless birds
"Hopefully this will bring awareness. I mean, they poach them and they take them down to the flea market or bird places, and they get a couple hundred dollars," Lee said.
Coral Gables is considered a bird sanctuary because of its high bird population. The Bird Lovers Club is coming up with a nesting project to relocate parrots to a safer place to live.
Dana Feinstein, who fed the birds every day, has also offered a $1,000 reward in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.

UPDATE

3/31 11pm update: Fire Dept used a bucket ladder to check all palms in that area & reported all other birds are OK. So I'm sure if there were babies, they would have rescued them. Also, an anonymous donor raised the reward to $10,000 which is double the reward on a murder charge information. Someone should definitely turn the punks in now!
3/30 11pm UPDATE: (Daria Feinstein is a board member for the Bird Lovers Club that is offering her personal $1000 for the reward to find them. Our club is printing Wanted posters w/reward to post in that area to help find them. They will be prosecuted.)

Thanks for the updates, Ladies! It's good to see public outrage over this senseless act of cruelty.
