one budgie about 4 months. her name is lucy
hello everyone, so i have had my budgie about 3 wks now and she refuse to eat out of a bowl or plate for her fruits or veggies. the only thing she will eat out of a bowl is her seeds and applesauce. i put some applesauce in paper cupcake and she will not eat it at all. she nows its there but refuses. i dont mind feeding her on the floor of cage but is this normal or is lucy just being her silly self.

thanks:greenyellow:

I think you're fortunate that Lucy eats such a variety of different foods in the first place! Budgies are notoriously picky.

As far as her preferences, it might just be what she's become accustomed to. I think that if she's already eating these certain items, she will eventually find that if she wants them, she will have to eat them out of a bowl. But if she prefers the style of a larger chunk of vegetable laying on the bottom to gnaw on, that's fine too. Are you using a grate so that the food isn't on the very bottom with the debris?

good morning, yes i do have a grate on the bottom and i usually take out whats left of food after i notice she is done with it. i dont leave it in there all day. if i think she wants more greens or something i will give her fresh later in the day. she does eat good thats for sure. i noticed she loves pineapple but it makes her poop soft so im cutting back on that. i have put her greens in a bowl and she will just look at them until i pour them out. im not sure how she was feed before i got her, but i did find out last nite that i think she was bullied in the cage she was in with 10 other budgies and was in a 20 gallon fish tank. i am so happy i have her and she is happy now. i don want to upset her so as a momma with her baby i fall to her request. lol.

thanks :greenyellow:
