Ticka has only two toys in his cage while Scarlet has 4-5 most of the time. Plus her swing!
I just gave Ticka a new toy that I made, I try this with him every now and then, and this is exactly why his had the same two toys for the last year. He hates them! He will avoid that part of the cage as long as he can, which really is forever. We have always tried giving him nice things but he just hates them :( then I feel bad coz Scarlet gets spoilt with toys and stuff!
How do I stop this?!
I want him to enjoy fun things!
No matter how long I leave the toy in there, he will hate it till I take it out. Doesnt matter how big or small the toy is, what colour it is, what its made out of, how it works. if its new, its bad. Poor Ticka :(

My quaker is afraid of most new toys while my other two adapt pretty quick. For sweetiepie I leave it near his cage for a few days where he can see it even a couple of weeks, Then I put it on to of his cage for a while but not in it. Then I play with it in front of him for a couple of days then put it in his cage. There is only one toy he would never get used to but Tiki loves it:)

Loki's cage is practically overrun with toys while Sugar has 2, and Loki's cage is less than half the size of Sugars! He just adapts quicker to the new stuff and isn't as fearful. Sugar is scared of her own shadow. It's just how some birds are, unfortunately. Have you tried leaving the new toy somewhere where she can see it, for a period of time? Slowly moving the toy closer to her cage, eventually putting it next to it and then inside the cage? This has worked for other owners of fearful birds.

Good luck!

Yep I have tried it all!
Nothing works haha I don't know what it is that's made him scared of them.. But then again his been like this since I got him.
His not scared of anything else really, just bird toys.. Lol.
I guess his just going to have to live with the same two toys, he just hates any others! I might have to start making toys exactly the same as his so he always has them lol. Then change them over when his out of his cage n hopefully he won't notice.. Haha.
It's like having children sometimes I swear :p lol

Dixie was like that at one point, for quite a few years actually....but she's fine now, IF I hang a new toy with her, she's right there with it. She never chews up her toys, but she does now!

The Quaker I had before was like that since he was a baby, he HATES new toys. It took him a long time to warm up to new toys. How long have you had Ticka?
