Why is the top of the sleep cage so valuable to them?

I Sun Conure who hatched March 23. 2004. I adopted her on May 8, 2005
I had a Quaker Parrot named Nikki who lived for 19 years
I grew up with Budgerigars named Screech, Zoar and Blue Baby
I have heard of defending their territory when inside the cage but the cage top. Mind you, top of the cage cones to below my chest so they are not high up.

Lately my Sun and Quwher have been interested in the top of the sleep cage.

When they end up in there they will either move away or my Sun will lunge and try to bite.

This doesnā€™t happen all the time but I do notice that when the Quaker doesnā€™t cooperate itā€™s likely the Sun wonā€™t either LOL! Itā€™s kind they gotta do it together. However sometimes my Sun will think for herself and step up.

Whatā€™s so desirable about a cage too thatā€™s not that high?

Their day cage is high. The top is my Guevara. I can understand how that may be a desirable place to be.
