Why do they think they own us?

My husband asked me that tonight, referring to Opi & Keen. It completely cracked me up. I just chuckled & said, "Because they do! We're their flock".
Husband doesn't understand why when we leave the room, they start making noise. He has so much to learn!

Do you know what's worse possessiveness wise than my birds? My cat! My cat grabs hold of me when I need to get up and it takes a lot of work to get her little claws off of me. Then she will nip the back of my leg to let me know she is mad at me for doing something other than being cat furniture. If I somehow evade the nip, she jumps down off the couch, chases me, grabs my ankle with her front legs and chomps down hard on the top of my foot!

It is pretty clear that I belong to her, not the other way around.

Of my birds, Rowdy is the most possessive, but she has also been with me such a long time now.

Am I the only person whose bird isn't possessive of me? Sometimes he gets territorial on my shoulder, although it's not too bad now. He doesn't get jealous, and only calls when I leave the room sometimes, but not a whole lot.

He likes to step up for other people, especially strangers or people he doesn't see often, and will actually bite me if I try to take him back from them!

I find Codie very possessive of me. If I leave the room, she calls and if anyone comes round, she flies straight to me and puts her head right into me, as if to say, "Stay Away" I am hoping in time as she gets a bit older, this will change and she will also bond with the other members of my Family

Let's see - we pay the bills, we bring the food, we always report in when we get back, therefore they must be the ones in charge who own the house - they're in it all the time, right?

As you've said, they DO own us! As for your husband, (like my wife!), if it has to be explained...they won't understand. It's a bird thing!
