On trying to get every penny they spent on a bird when they decide they want to dump them on someone else? I mean really I understand rescues charging a few hundred dollars since most the birds cost them money and they are not their "pets" per say, but for someone who bought a bird then had it for years then need to get rid of it and charge so much for the bird. Isnt a good home enough? Wonder why we see this more with birds then dogs and cats.

Personally I think it is tacky, they spent that money on the bird when it was theirs why should they pass the cost on to someone who is doing them a favor and taking in a bird they are abandoning essentially.

Bah I dont get it!

Lady wants me to give her $500 for a feather plucking ringneck parrot I mean come on REALLY?!?!?!? It saddens me because I wont and I know he will just move to the next person that has the cash. No matter if they can help him or not.

Try talking about the vet bills they will need to pay because they won't be able to get rid of it as it has medical problems. Say that they probably won't be able to get rid of it because nobody will buy an unhealthy bird for that amount of money. Say you will buy it for a reduced price.

had a kind of similar thing happen. I got a kitten for my birthday one year and I had her for ages, until my dad developed allergies.. I was so sad!!! We went to a local vet that was known for finding great homes for cats. (We were glad to find a home ourslves but we wantd to first see how this worked). We filled out the paperwork and all that, and once we were done the secretary person informed us that we need to pay $400 for a check-up and $200 for a fee. That costed more than the cat itself! We ended up finding a home for her ourselves.

-Cass (The two cats I have know are devon-rex, non-allergenic cats.)
