The room that the 3 parrots are in (how it has to be for now) is in the back of the house, and when I'm home, they get let out of their cages I'd say the majority of the time but has to be in shifts these days, because Robin and Griffin don't get along, and Robin has hurt Griffin before. Then Raven has knocked Robin off his cage, and Raven is much bigger. Although Griffin is trained to stay away from Robin's cage (believe me, he knows Robin's cage is a "no!"), he is like a little kid seeing what he can get away with anyway, and especially lately since he's got his wings back, he's been doing new things and testing boundaries, and I can't see him hurt again. I need to keep going to the room checking on them, so as you can see, this means much running back and forth every 15 mins, 1/2 hour or whatever. Yes it's a VERY BIG pain, but I'd rather know what everyone is doing back there in the room.

If I'm doing something in the house that might preoccupy me a bit, I leave the door to the room mostly closed. It's open about 6-9" to be able to hear them, but that's closed enough that Griffin (the adventurous one) can't fly out.

Yesterday I went in to check on them and I couldn't find Griffin anywhere! We searched the whole house and breathed a big sigh of relief to see that the dog in her partitioned off area didn't have anything in her mouth . We searched each room... No Griffin. I went back to the room and looked behind furniture, then in a partially opened closet... Nope.

Then finally..... I see a little movement from the corner of my eye! It was the little stinker peeking out from under a towel which was hanging on the jolly ball stand to dry! Oh, and also exciting is he's getting closer to going in! I got that thing a long time ago and no one has ever used it. Enjoy the pics of my cute little rascal Griffin :).

They do keep life .... interesting, don't they? I love that you checked the dog's mouth for feathers .... ;)

He looks so deceptively stately in that last picture! "Trouble? Musta been some other bird ...."

You should sooo nominate that scamp for Pet of the Day!

Wow, Julie! Great photos! I see you still need to watch the rascal with both hands. I know Griffin gets by with a lot just because he's so darn cute. He really held out a long time before making friends with the jolly ball.

Sweet Robin! All his pics melt my heart!

Oh that little stinker! Tell Griffin that next time he wants to play hide and seek, he needs to let you know before the game starts!

Love the photos! And, so exciting that he is showing interesting in the jolly ball.

Thanks! The after market decorations already came on the Jolly Ball when I bought it. I still need to adorn it with plastic chain and other hanging toys. I also want to put a soft pad or at least a towel inside to cushion it. Maybe if Griffin uses it, it will make him easier to put away! Since he's wild and I can't touch him, he goes in his cage with my arm motions and voice commands, but many times he is stubborn and doesn't want to go right away. If he's in the Jolly Ball I have only to take that to his open door and slide him in haha.

Edit: Allee, he does get away with a lot, but trust me, keeping him safe and keeping track of him wears me out! He's like several birds in one lol.

Before....

After... The bag didn't stop him for long lol

Loving the updates on your boys, Jules! Griffin OBVIOUSLY enjoys messing with you. Hahaha! Born trouble maker, that one.

And yes, you know the instant Griffin saw that bag over the lamp, his thought was, "challenge accepted!" Lol!

lol I almost lost Monster too the other night. He had some how gotten behind the TV and was hanging out there. Took me a very long time to figure out where the noise was coming from once he started answering me:rolleyes:

Only crazy people get birds and deal with their trouble making feathered butts long term:p

Stephen I thought the bag over the lamp would work. It did for about a week. I need to just get it out of there. It doesn't throw off much light anyway. It's pretty much just a bird stand with built-in poop catcher!

Victoria, at least Monster answered you. Griffin is a super quiet bird in the first place. Then with his phobia AND when he knows he's hiding he's certainly not going to answer. Kind of like losing a hamster lol.

Haha he headed toward those flip flops again (the ones he started on last month). When I took them away, he thought the vinyl floor protector would be more fun to chew than the toys right by him ;). Not a great pic, but he's just so cute!

Awww, Julie, that Griffin is such a scamp! I so love seeing all the pics, your birds are all so gorgeous (even when getting into trouble!)

Your boys are awesome, Julie! Always nice to see pics to match the personalities and stories!

Thank you Terry and Scott :). I haven't posted my boys for a while, so I thought it was time ;).

That little Griffin really surprises me. For a good part of 10 years, I had an Eclectus (a super easy going female), Cuban Amazon (easy also), Slender Billed Too, up to about 4 years and she was probably not quite mature but a good bird, and I rehomed her for personal reasons, but not because she was a handful really, she didn't get into trouble like Griffin does. So all of the larger birds I've had were pretty easy IMO. Small Ruppell's parrot Griffin on the other hand is something else. One thing on the plus side, I do think the Pois have an easier time thriving even when the owner is very busy.

What is it about Pois and destroying things on the ground? I'm constantly chasing Sidney away from chewing on things on the floor. I try to encourage his foraging instincts but he sometimes drives me nuts because I never know what he is going to go after. I have a TV stand with a home theater receiver on the bottom shelf. I looked away from him a couple of weeks ago and when I looked back, all I saw were tail feathers disappearing around the back of the receiver. It took me 5 minutes to pry his feet and beak off the speaker wires and he has been fascinated with it ever since. I had to cut and put some Plexiglas back there to block him. But he still checks every day now to see if an opening has mysteriously appeared.
