So, it seems I gotta leave for the weekend, I would leave very early friday morning and come back rather late on sunday.

I was wondering what the better solution was for Oz. He's only been with me since last sunday, and I could either have him looked after at the petshop (I'd have to leave him there tomorrow and get him back on monday) or leave him fresh water and food on friday morning and ask the very kind lanlord that lives upstairs if he could just come and change the water once a day.

I was leaning towards the last one since I don't want to stress him with another move, but him worried that he'll be bored with no interaction for over 48 hours and that the landlord might forget to come change the water (Oz likes to sleep on his bowls, so I find dropping s in his water in the morning)

Also, we're going to the vet this afternoon, I bought him a nice transport cage, and was thinking towel in it + millet, would that suffice? It's just a 5 minutes drive.

EDIT: Oh, and so sorry about the many threads =S

I would say bring him to the petstore because atleast he will be around other people and animals!

Buy him a water bottle :) We use that more often than a water dish because Merlin also has a habit of pooping in his dishes, so we know his water will be unspoiled.

I vote landlord - with a water bottle. That way if the land lord can't make it to check every few hours, you're still sure your baby has relatively fresh water that isn't spoiled.

It's 48 hours, with plenty of toys and a supply of food and water. He might miss company, but moving him to and from again... plus, I don't know anything about your pet store. Usually they close around 5pm and they don't have time to actually interact with their pets, so, sounds that either way he's going to be left lonely.

I find water bottles risky, they can malfunction and the poor bird might die of dehydration, they can also cut heir tongues sometimes.

Honestly, my vote goes for the pet store where thy will check on him often, than the land lord who will probably only check once a day.

Thanks for the replies guys. We just came back from the vet and I talked about this with him. He gave me the contact info of a pet sitter that could come spend time with him twice a day while I'm gone, apparently an experimented animal health technician who has a lot of experience with birds. He didn't like the idea of the petshop pension since it could expose my baby to illnesses the other birds might carry. I think this would be better than either of those other solutions uh?

On a side note, Oz seems to be happy and healthy =) Just a little dry skin that, apparently I can fix with a better nutrition. He even gave me tips on how to get him to try fruits and vegies, and said I should give more pellets, less seeds :grey:
