So I was reading though the posts and came across a new cage that looks like a good one.
I am planning on getting a Bronze-Winged Pionus at some point, and I had originally decided on this cage:

You know that famous cage that is widely renowned for a pair or flock of smaller birds or a single medium bird. I also like the locks.
Then I saw this:

I LOVE the size, same width and length as the HQ, but has 18 inches more of cage space in height, but I am concerned about the strength. Medium birds have stronger beaks and I've read that sometimes the bars have come bent in the package, which makes me wonder if they are strong enough for a medium bird. I also hate the doors, compared to the HQ cage they look quite flimsy.
Reviews state that the cage is sturdy, but I just despise the door style and the bars just don't look strong. What do you guys think? I want to provide the biggest cage I can for my future fid, but meh.

I am not familiar with the top cage you listed, but use the bottom one for my finches. I am pretty sure that either of my Pi's would be able to bend and break the bars on it. The bar gauge is not very strong.
Hopefully someone else will know more about your other choice

I had to say hi since I have a Bronze Winged Pionus! My male Raven. I had a BW hen also about 8 years ago she passed. I had to get another one (Raven).

BRONZE WINGED PIONUS is my all time favorite Pionus species! Individual personalities vary greatly, and Raven is not as 'nice' as the female I had, but nonetheless I love him as an individual, and they are beautiful birds after they come into their adult coloration.
They really aren't very common, and it was very hard finding one.

Raven is very lucky to have a larger cage than he even needs (I once had a larger bird in it) I think it's 30x36 and is big vertically as well. But I'd say 23x32 is fine also, and up to 1 inch bar spacing is fine for any Pionus. Keep in mind that the inside cage space gets filled up rather quickly after you add a bunch of toys, swing, ladder, perches, or whatever, so bigger is better since one that you think is big when empty gets cluttered real quick.

Neither of the cages you listed will work for a pionus. They would bend/break the bars pretty quickly.

Like Terry and Karen said, don't get a flight cage for a Pionus! The bar gauge is much too small. Flight cages are made for finches, and VERY small parrots like budgies, lovebirds, parrotlets, and others with small beaks.

Hmm, I didn't realize that flight cages meant thinner weaker bars. Do you guys have any suggestions for a good pionus cage? Price isn't really an objection, I'm just planning and saving for the time being.

Oh hey that last cage is the one my parents surprised me with! That would be perfect for a pionus!!! Great size! But the bars are thin... Couldn't hold in an Alexandrian... But I love it for Lilo!

Instead of looking for conure cages I've been looking at medium bird cages. I was looking at some dome top cages from HQ, 5/8" bar spacing. Because in weight they are lighter than the cages with playtops that I was looking at. I do need to be able to manage moving the cage on my own. Like that one. I was looking at 1" bar space cages, all being lovely space, but heavy.

This cage would be very suitable for a pionus. Unfortunately the thicker bars and sturdier cage do make it heavier.

I would suggest you look for suitable cages for conures. I know you aren't getting a conure, but the cage needs for a conue and pi would be similar since they are similar in size And since conures are more common, you'll have a lot better luck looking up "conure cages"

Pionus are actually MUCH bigger than a conure!

They're about the size of the smallest Amazons at 200-300 grams on average depending on which Pionus specie and individual.

You know from pics of Raven and Griffin (although pics sometimes make them look closer in size than they are), but Griffin is about the size of a Sun Conure with a bigger head. Raven is about twice his size.
