which one ????? cockatoo or macaw

in the future i am thinking about getting a blue and gold macaw or a cockatoo which is the nicer one and do they both have the same talking ability and which one is eaiser to take care of ???

In my experience, they're both big birds and both make big poops. They both need big cages, have big appetites and can have big vocabularies. I think (but am not certain) the macaws tend to talk more than cockatoos, and macaws are not as needy as cockatoos. If I were suggesting a big bird to someone who wanted one of those, I'd suggest a B&G. If you really want a talker though, get an Amazon. They're big birds and their mouths are bigger than they are! They don't need a cage as large as a Macaw does and they're not as neurotic as the African Greys and the cockatoos have a tendency to be. They're a tremendous amount of fun!

What a perfect way of comparing them!

You're so right though - I emphasized how alike they are and neglected to emphasize the differences and the incredible need for educating oneself prior to making any kind of a commitment to a bird. Thank you for catching my lapse.
