Parrots
Budgie and sputnik (both cockatiels, budgie is a pearled and sputnik a grey faced)

Coconut (Pineapple conure)

Talon (african grey)

Ziggy (Macaw)
I want to get brazil nuts in the shell for my blue and gold macaw, I think he'd have a fun time trying to crack them, but I cant for the life of me find any. All the ones I find are either roasted, out of the shell or otherwise unsafe, does anyone know a good place to get some?

The only place I've ever seen brazil nuts in the shell is as part of a mixed nut bag like thouse from Diamond that you find at the grocery store. A google returned bulk in shell nuts from nuts.com

Personally I'd grab a bag of mixed nuts from the grocery store and let him try the included brazil nuts, then shop at nuts.com if he likes them.

I don't know where you are living.. Where I live, they have those nuts everywhere.

Birds Stores. Grocery Stores..

I love eating those too.. My favorite nuts ;)

Here is what I got from Amazon.

Around the holidays they are fairly easy to find in the US. Sometimes in bags of mixed nuts and sometimes in those "scoop your own" situations (nuts by the lb).
Just a word of caution, I gave my Too some nuts the other day and she tried to eat the shell (which is not safe). Just watch closely if you give them, because nut shells can cause birds to become impacted.

I usually buy the bag of Diamond brand mixed nuts that have Brazil, Filberts, Walnuts, Almonds, and Hazelnuts...BUT, my local Walmart has a huge bin of them right in front of the produce section where you can scoop out exactly what you want and it's by the pound! So of course I grabbed a bag and picked out a bunch of Brazil nuts, Filberts, and Almonds (I have Walnuts coming out of my ears, and they are the only nut that my Senegal can't crack on his own)...It's for the holidays, but if you go to your local Walmart they still have them as of Christmas Eve. That way you can pick out all Brazil Nuts if you want...Otherwise, the Diamond brand bags of mixed nuts in the shells are the only ones I can find anywhere near me typically.

Great idea!

I haven't tried those (unshelled) at all....see, I simply cannot without you guys!

The only place I see them here are 'the mixed nuts'-bag at the supermarkets, but at the local market is a stand that sell nuts and related products only (do you have farmersmarkets etc. around where you live). You can always ask for whatever you really want- maybe they can deliver.

The online shop (green parrot) is awfully expensive (but good, fresh not dried and old)- so not really an option for me here.
(Not untill my faithfull millionaire sponsor shows up ..and he or she is having trouble finding the adres?? ;) )

Just to add to this thread...I went back to Walmart because they still had the massive bins of the nuts by the pound, and I figured I would go and get more Brazil Nuts specifically because they were only for the holidays and would be gone soon (and the bags of Diamond mixed-nuts are mostly Walnuts and Almonds with maybe 2 Brazil Nuts in each bag)...So i went back, grabbed a bag, and started digging through the 3 massive bins with the scoop, picking out the Brazil Nuts...I looked up after about a minute or two and there were multiple people staring at me, like "I can't believe she's doing that!"...I just kept on digging and scooping, and go about 2 pounds of Brazil Nuts and Filberts...Kane is a happy boy!
