Where do your birds like to sleep?

My two conures (gcc and sun) like to sleep in tents. My female gcc ignores her tent and sleeps behind a leather toy that I'm required to replace with an exact replica when she destroys the old one.

My cockatiels sleep in the back of their cages on perches (some rope and others wood). Our cockatoo sleeps in the front corner though she was sleeping in the back corner. Not sure why she changed (maybe colder near the back). The budgie sleeps way up top on his rope boing.

where does your harris hawk sleep ? :p :63:

Yeah I am guessing some species like conures might like to roost inside trees which is why they like to sleep in tents and or nest boxes?

I learned the hard way that my zon is very particular about his sleeping arrangements. After moving him into his new cage, he "slept" clinging to the cage bars for 3 nights until someone here suggested I put his old sleeping perch into the new cage. His old sleeping perch was a ratty old piece of bamboo that was too small foer the new cage but I had bigger pieces and was able to produce a good facsimile. He took to it instantly and got some much needed sleep :)

His perch has to be bamboo, slightly roughed up and must be placed just so in the cage.

Jack, my budgie is much less picky. As long as he's covered in a blank blankie, he snoozes without issues.

I really wish the harris hawk was mine! I've actually looked into the training and licensing and its a lot of work that I'm not ready to commit to right now. Maybe when I'm older:D

My friends 2 Harris hawks, 1 red tail, 3 augur, kookaburra, and various falcons all sleep in the backyard(called weathering) on leashed perches or in aviary's/mews.

Rosie sleeps at he top back perch of her cage, sometime's she'll fall asleep on a lower perch but by morning she's at her normal roosting spot haha. Kenji has a small perch in the highest location, the instant I dim the light he heads there. They like being up high ;)

Chili has a perch in the highest spot in her cage that she usually sleeps on, but last night I left her out to see what she'd do- she has a large mulberry branch extending up and off her cage, and so last night she slept at the tippy top of her "tree" without any issues....so I think that's her new spot lol

Same here, our conures prefer to sleep in their cozies/nesting boxes, but our big birds prefer to sleep in the open on their heated perches.

My CAG Neytiri is a weird sleeper. She will be on her fav perch and lean forward and put her forehead on the front wall of her cage. She has a wear mark on her head from it. Occasionally she slips and falls.

That is so funny.

When we first got Piper, our macaw, we were very curious which perch he'd pick for his sleeping perch. He had many options to pick from. We did not expect him to choose his sandpaper/cement "nail trimming" perch... It wasn't even the highest option in the cage for him. We are thinking of switching it out for one of his other perches at some point.

Charlie has a grapevine perch she sleeps on, even if I move it. Parker has a smoother type perch he sleeps on. Juno actually sleeps on her chandelier swing, it is a rope ring that hangs horizontal instead of vertical.

Motel 6 because they leave the light on for them

My amazon lives on her bird tree, and sleeps on top looking out the window.

Maggie sleeps on top of her cage.

The other three sleep out on top of the big playstand. The macaw at one end (she actually wraps herself up in a rope toy to sleep.) and the lilac crowned amazon and the CAG at the other. (Those two are bonded. My lilac crowned would be very stressed if you took her buddy bird away from her.)

The most unusual sleeping arrangements I ever saw were my bonded conures.

My Jenday conure quite literally slept on her back, with her feet up in the air holding onto the cage ON TOP OF the male dusky... Wing on top of wing, with their necks wrapped around one another...

Those two were inseparable.

Maggie sleeps on top of her cage.

George my conure slept in a pop up tent like that. He'd just fly over there when he was tired and go to sleep. He would pop his head out if the TV was too loud and kept doing it until I'd adjust the volume to his liking. Then he'd go back in and grumble as if to say, "darn kids".

I found this thread because Buddy has been in his new cage for a month. It's bigger than his old one. The top is solid because of the play top above. I bought him an edible perch hoping to trim his beak while he settled in and we could take him to the vet without stressing him. That perch is located very high. He loves that thing, he's torn it up, the rubble falls to the bottom but I have noticed he is now sleeping on that perch so he has to squat while on it because it's so close to the roof of his cage. I thought maybe trying a box or make a tent and put in the top corner of his cage. Do amazons tend to sleep in an I closure or on a perch? He's covered every night so I imagine that is a tight space he feels safe in.

Ziggy, my Peachface Lovebird sleeps on a perch snuggled up with a fleece snuggle that is fastened to the side of his cage. It is of course green like he is! It is looking a little worse for wear but am afraid he might not like a new one.
