Darn. I was reorganizing the cupboard and saw a bag of Zupreem (harvest feast) in the back. The expiration date is 11/30/2012.

I know some food products in general last longer, but is it worth feeding?

I'm thinking what's in the subject line, but wanted to get a consensus.

Thx much

I wouldn't give it to my parrots. I've forgotten about food in my pantry before, too, and I ended up putting it out for the outside wild birds/squirrels. It was Scenic Hand Weaning pellets, and the squirrels LOVED it. :)

I recall someone else going through something very similar.... and I think Zupreem told them to not use the food 3 months past the expiration date... so it might still be "ok".

Why not call up Zupreem and ask?

I dont recommend feeding it to your parrot, not worth the vet bills if your parrot got sick from it.

I've already segregated the questionable food...

Cool. They're probably less likely to get sick, and these had just expired...

Good point, thanks!

I might remain on the same side; the pet store had a couple bags available so I grabbed them to be safe. (They expire in 6 months, but they'll be gone in 2 or 3.)

Goodness me... when I cleaned out my cupboard last time, I found food there from the 1990's - conserves that used to having no used by date on them... I did throw them out... obviously I didn't eat the stuff on a regular basis... My cupboards are so deep, I can't reach to the back...

I would have used the pellets, if they had been in a dark/cool place...

@lene1949, lol. It happened to me once too, I found it 3 years after the use by day. But it wasn't bird pellet, it was a bag of dog food for my poodle that pasted away 9 years ago. Anyway, I didn't even open the bag of food to see what it looks and smells like, I could image it all in my head. Gross. :(
