My quaker has started doing something that scares me. He's done this six times now since last week. He fluffs up really big (the biggest he can get) then he starts showing a lot of affection. He rubs his face against mine and he can not sit still. But the part that worries me is that while he's doing this stuff, he's panting the whole time and I try to sooth him but he just pants harder and its scaring me. Is something wrong with him or is this just a new thing he picked up, like a new dance or something. Also he goes back to his normal self after he does that stuff.

I don't have a Quaker, but it sounds like he may be courting you. He wants to mate. I think when you said 'soothing' him when he pants makes him do it even more? Just set him down to cool off when that happens. You typically don't want to egg him on and get him sexually frustrated.

Haha, he is courting you. I had a male quaker that started doing that and after awhile would regurgitate food for me. It was cute in the beginning but ended up being not so cute when he started getting overly possessive of me. I would suggest putting it down when it does that, try to curb that behavior as much as you can. As sweet as it seems now its no longer cute when you have an overly possessive adult bird who wont tolerate anyone elses presence around you.

Yep.

He's not panting because he's sick. He's panting because you're making him hot and bothered... :D
