Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
I just served up some Roudybush stuff, where you have to boil the mix for 5 minutes. I tried something else awhile ago, same thing, Boil for 5 min, And the mix is like 1 part water , 1 part whatever. Now, how much can 1 parrot eat in 1 session? And you cant save the stuff. So there I am, with like 4 table spoons of water and 2 table spoons of stuff, trying to boil it in a sauce pan. What I should be doing is trying to cook a thimble full of this goop over a bunsen burner !! Or a big spoon of it over a candle (what kind of image does that serve up?).

And the worst part is... Salty loved it. He just came up for air, after having his face in his food bowl for an hour. So I guess this goop will go in his food rotation. Tsk, tsk, tsk, Salty, the things that you will eat! I can't wait to see how it comes out the other end. Or, maybe I can.

Does anyone else serve this kind of stuff , and if yes, what do you cook it in?

OOoo I got a sample of this kinda thing in my last pellet order - can't wait for the replies! I kinda just mixed it a bit with boiled water and let it cool...

Sorry, But I LMAO when I read your Thread, more because I had been there!

Our Avian Vet provided us with one of those packets as a possible means of providing a specific medication. After following the directions and then having a mere twelve cup-cakes. We were left with the same problem, near three months worth of supply! Only to find that our opinionated Amazon did not like that specific product.

I haven't a clue how to break-down and cook a single half size cup-cake like serving, sucessfully. Sizing-down or size-up has limits and this product has me at the same end-point as you! What to heck!

No answer for this one, unfortunately! I have learned with 2 little birds that I use eyedroppers more than measuring cups when it comes to following a recipe...

They say Betty Crocker made a hit with bake mixes because they added the step of adding an egg, so you don't feel guilty about not making it from scratch. Well, maybe I don't feel guilty! I want ready-to-serve appropriately sized bird treats, thanks!

Ah, I learned this trick making bookbinding paste. I might measure a tablespoon of starch paste and 3-4 of water, whatever works with that particular starch, and cook it in a small glass dish in the nuke-o-wave. Cook 30 seconds, stir, cook 30 seconds, stir, cook 15 seconds, etc. until it looks right. You can also make a small single serve cake in a coffee mug in the nuke-o-wave. Maybe for a bird you would use coconut or palm oil and leave out the sugar and chocolate. What's the point? Make the cake first and eat it while you are cooking the birdie gruel. What is that stuff called?

Hey, I just found these - real Revereware and only 1 cup in size. I picked one up , so glop time at our house can be less of a mess, trying to boil 4 tablespoons of stuff in a 1 quart sauce pan.

Kiwi eats a similar cooked food, only I make it from scratch. It usually lasts 3-4 days in the fridge. I too use a butter warmer to heat it up. No idea why they would produce a product that can't be made up in slightly larger batches and would keep in the fridge. Kiwi gets (roughly) 1/8 cup of it at both meals. 4TBSP is 1/4 cup dry plus the water too cook. There is no way an amazon could eat that in a single setting, not to mention being in addition to other foods. I'd halve the portion size and find a brand (or make your own) cook n serve food where you can make up a couple days worth at a time personally.
