Ok nerves and excitement are setting in! Today is the day we pick our new family member!
Can someone give me a rundown on what to look for? Iā€™d love to make sure somehow that itā€™s just weaned and left the nest, is there any way to see that? Black on beak? Feathers not fully grown in? Not as brightly colored?
Behavioral?

Any last minute tips? :)

Sorry that your Thread had gotten missed with the activities of the day!

1. Assure that your new baby is fully weaned and has been on solid food for at least several weeks. Test, will it eat solid food from your hand.
2. That the Baby was activity handle by several individuals and will go to or be handled by near everyone.
3. Bright, clear eyes!
4. Most all feathers should be fully in place. Wing feathers still coming in (not yet ready to fledge), but fairly close.
5. Walks and perches with easy
6. Look for poo. Get use to it, you will be looking at bird poo for ever more! What you are looking for is light brown, green and white with some water as part of the overall mixture.

VERY IMPORTANT! If you are picking up a Class I or Class II CITES Parrot. Assure that you get a Document of Birth with Hatch Date and Species name on the document. The document needs to include the name and contact information of the Breeder!!! Provide this document set to your CAV (Certified Avian Vet) so that a copy can be made and kept with your Parrot's Medical Files. Once home, keep these documents with your other important documents!!! You will need them if you plan on traveling with your Parrot.

Enjoy!

Hi! Well where we live this is the only breeder, breeder meaning he has a bunch of birds that breed... he doesnā€™t tame or handle them... i did fall in love with this beautiful baby, just fledged that is eating solids now. When he caught it in the cage it didnā€™t bite, and when I touched his/her beak it didnā€™t bite either. Itā€™s been pretty calm on the way home, very interested in our voices and curious, poops a lot lol.
Heā€™s now taking a nap as I have his cage a bit covered for him to adjust peacefully.
Itā€™s named Chewy

My first attempt at posting a picture... off course heā€™s still quite nervous so I didnā€™t want to be all up in his little face with my phone taking a picture so for now this will have to do lol

Iā€™m trying again lol.
He already took a nap and explored his new cage, seems heā€™s very positive and curious!
Anything I should do to assist him in finding his food and water? Heā€™s so young it seems heā€™s having a little bit of trouble going on the feeders.
