What sub species am I?

Hi guys,
I have a gorgeous eclectus. She's 13wks old and her name is Ruby. I hand raised her from 6wks old. Can anyone help me work out what sub species she is? I was told she is an Australian eclectus but I'm not so sure. To me she seems huge but she isn't very heavy. I'd like to get a male and have them grow up together but I want to know what she is before I go ahead.
I'm trying to work out how to post pictures from my ipad but so far it hasn't worked. So feel free to check out my album (while i try to work it out) and let me know what you think

She looks like an Australian subspecies to me, but it will be hard to tell until she's mature.

Thank you. I had so much fun feeding her and wasn't very happy when she decided to wean herself at 10wks.
I actually got her for my 10yr old daughter who took a huge interest in my alex's, but Ruby attatched herself to me!! We love her to bits.

Hopefully these will help to a certain degree, from the websites, it's easiest to tell based on the eyes and beneath the tail. It's also a possibility that she is a hybrid of two different species based on the fact that since it's so hard to tell one species apart from another, a breeder bred two different subspecies by mistake.

And because she is only a few months old it can be hard to tell for certain until a couple of years or molting to see her final colors.

can you get a photo of under her tail? I agree with Mekaisto it's hard to tell while she is young. if she develops a distinct blue eye ring then she is a Solomon Island Eclectus. But until she matures it will be hard to tell

I will get a picture of under her tail tomorrow. I can see some blue feathers around her eyes but its light. I think she might be a mix of solomon island and red sided because she seems quite big but rounded also.
And im a little confused about the australians. I have been told I need a licence to keep them and that they are rare and very expensive. Is this true? There is a shop about 45mins from me with some huge eclectus labled macgillivray. So here I am ringing around trying to find a mate for ruby as I want the same subspecies and im told I couldnt possibly have an australian eclectus????

and yes full blood Australian Eclectus Parrots are rare and expensive. The facts are that in captivity, Eclectus Parrots are bred across subspecies resulting in hybrids

She's gorgeous! She looks similar to my Red-Sided girl Sen, but yes, under tail photos are extremely important in finding out the exact subspecies. That and physical maturity.

She's beautiful. Solomon Island subspecies is a much smaller bird than the others. You would be able to tell an SI right off by it's size. I realize you don't have other Ekkies to compare . It seems they do have the most distinct blue eye rings too. The red sided has a blue eye ring too, but not as much. Not sure about the others you have available in Australia.

We don't even have the Australian (macgillivrayi) subsp. in the US.

I've heard they're very large. I would think that if they're rare where you are, the seller would have known what they have. Good luck figuring it out. I'm a curious person myself, and I don't blame you wanting to know.

You may have to wait for her to reach maturity to be able to know for sure.

I don't know who told you that macgillivrayi eclectuses are rare, but they're kinda wrong. Depending on where in Australia you live, they range from very rare to fairly common (out of all purebred eclectus, which in themselves may be difficult to find)

I'm in victoria.
A few shops I called looking for australian eclectus told me they are rare.
If solomon island eclectus are really small she isn't one of those. Maybe a red sided??
The shop near me that have them are labled macgillivray and have a price tag of $1600. The males are a darkish green and are massive and very heavy. There is also a breeder about half hr away that has 1 pair and sell the babies for $1000. Whenever I call her to ask if there are any males yet she tells me to pair my girl up with any subspecies it doesn't have to be australian!!

I have a picture of the undertail of Ruby but as we've had the power off all day I can't post it. As soon as it comes back on I will.
