I love Macaw sounds! It is kind of funny though because Salsa sounds like he is burping. Buuurp, good bird =)

That's because he IS burping... well, that is, he's mimicking a human burp. He learned it from the husband of his mom (who passed away in May). He also usually does it right after he goes and takes a gulp or two of water from his water bowl. He'll actually pause and burp like that between gulps. I think he's pretty funny!

Yes, I imagine you really must be It's about the best thing someone can have to look forward to IMO. I know that I was really looking forward to getting each of mine. In Salsa's case it was a bittersweet experience, though, because his mom who recently passed away was my best friend and Salsa was the single most important part of her life.

I think Salsa is absolutley gorgeous!

What are you feeding your birds, his colors look amazing. He really is handsome!

The base pellets they get are Zupreme Natural Avian Maintenance but I give them some Harrison's (pepper flavor) and some Roudybush here and there as well. They usually won't eat much of the Harrison's or Roudybush though. Then on a daily basis they get organic apples and bananas as well as various vegetables - I try to always get organic when I can. I also feed them plenty of nuts (pecans, cashews, almonds, macadamias, pine nuts, and various others depending upon what's available). And, of course, I always have to give them some of whatever I'm having (as long as it's bird-safe). Since I eat lots of whole grains and organics, they get plenty of healthy variety.

I know it was such a bittersweet experience when you got Salsa. He is such a gorgeous guy, I can tell he had excellent care from your friend & you are continuing in giving him a wonderful home. I believe that your friend sees what an amazing home you are giving her baby and is smiling down on the two of you! I love watching him "burp" I'm about to show it to my husband, I'm sure after watching this he is going to be on a mission to teach Moses this! LOL

It's a learned behavior They seem to like the burping sound.

Pepper sneezes and coughs exactly like me! Whenever she burps/farts I tell her "Are you some kinda pig bird?" LOL!
