What next?

My IRN, Tiki, will take treats from my fingers inside and outside of his cage, but when I try to get him to step up, he squawks and flies away. After a bit of flying around, I can get him to step up and return him to his cage. How can I get him to step up willingly? I do not try inside his cage, because his body language shows that is not a good idea. He has come such a long way, but I am ready to work on the next step.

Try using one of his perches rather than your arm or hand, that's what I did. Bo took a lot longer to accept a hand as a perch than a hand holding a familiar perch. When he's used to that, start positioning your hand closer and closer to him up the perch over time at his own pace, and only try offering your hand or arm to step up on when he's OK with it sitting next to him or has been nibbling or climbing on it by choice a few times.
