my sun does this all the time, but doesn't preen it, she chewes it up haha so if I want to have a nice tail/flight feather I have to take it away as soon as possible or it gets destroyed and she doesn't like me taking them away....

I had never seen or heard of a bird, preening a feather that had fallen out, before seeing Mishka doing it.
