What is this behavior

Jack my 3 yr old rescue QP will come out of his cage and go on top. When I approach he will ruffle his feathers, dance around, including a moonwalk but will not get on my hand. If I leave my hand on the top of the cage he will nibble not bite. He will also let me scratch his head and sometimes will come over to edge of the cage and sometimes kiss me on the lips or get on my shoulder. If I ignore him he will scream. When I run out of patience I just pick him up and put back in cage with no biting

How long would you say "let stuff settle" be. Since he lets me pick him up -no biting and scratch his head, touch his beak-still no biting-But do not put a wooden perch or your fingers in front of me

LOL good question: may be weeks/ months or even years.
Al depends on the bird and how you guys team up together.

My rescues/rehomers took about 4 months to get used to a new room and new routines, but... they were all birds who lived in livingrooms before (at least parts of their lives) and got attention regularly, were used to different humans around them etc..

For an aviarybird or a one-person-only bird it could be wildly different


No idea where your bird came from- it reads like he is used to people, so that will make you setteling in together easier.
