I have a new Java tree for Kili my U2. There's a couple spots where she has to grab it with her beak and practically drag herself up it because it's so slippery for her. A while back I read about some type of grip tape that's nontoxic for parrots. Can't remember what it's called so I can buy some. Anyone know?

Don't you use ropes? We use ropes in our trees.

Vet wrap is awesome! It also comes in handy for protecting tempting cords. For example, there is a ceiling lamp in Kyo's room that she enjoys sitting on. I was worried about her chewing the cord, so I wrapped vet wrap around it and all she does is climb up and down it now. Out of sight, out of mind ;)

What a great idea! I'll have to try that. She's very sedate on the tree. We've only had her a couple weeks and she doesn't like to move around on it a lot. We had to lay a toy across the top (instead of hanging it). She just won't reach down for anything. She didn't even venture to the food and water bowls on the tree for the first several days. Maybe because she knows the tree is slippery. Now she happily chomps the wood pieces of her toy that lays across the top and she checks out the bowls every now and then.

My parrots are like that too when they're on a new tree, they need to get used to it, and explore it first. So give it some time, and maybe use ropes so she can move around easily :)
