So I keep reading these great recipes for "chop" but I have no idea WHAT it is! I understand its a bunch of chopped veg/fruit/grains but how is it prepared? Is it cooked, and frozen, or left raw or..

I'm sure it sounds like a silly question, but a recipe for PB&J wont make much sense if you dont know what a sandwich is and how to make it. :p

Chop/mash is what you make of it!

Grains and legumes can be fed cooked or sprouted.

Vegetables can be fed fresh, cooked or frozen/thawed.

Fruits can be fresh or frozen/thawed.

Canned ingredients *should never* be used! It's also best to stick with *healthy* grains and legumes that you get from a health food store (not the soup bean mixes - although they can be used, they can only be *fully* cooked, toxic if sprouted or undercooked - healthy legumes are fine cooked or sprouted).

Mash is basically a "smaller" version of chop. Chop may include large chunks of food where-as a mash may be very fine. Everything is chopped and/or put through a food processor to make it small. Otherwise, there's no differences between them and you can use whatever ingredients you want!

A basic mix should be about 30% grains, 15% legumes (to make a whole protein), 45% vegetables and 10% fruits, roughly.

Now we are getting somewhere! Thanks!

So once the "chop" is made, do you leave it in the fridge to use throughout the week? Or can it be frozen into smaller portions - single serve TV dinner style :D - or is that called something different? Just trying to get a handle on the wording so I know what I'm looking for.

Who knew choppped up veg could be so complicated!

You can freeze it, I usually make 3 months worth! lol

Make sure to use freezer bags, and if get as much air out as you can.
