Coconut murders a watermelon... (this watermelon wasn't the best... wasn't sweet enough and lacking flavor... so I let him have entire thing). Why is it so hard to find a good watermelon these days! Wish I could move back to Budapest where I could get decent produce!

Watermellon is my FAVORITE fruit! It seems like the season here is at an end for it though :( I had some excellent mellons..sweet and juicy.

Nice to see Coconut eating so well.. BB still wont take anything from my fingers

He look so happy! Our Bud is so used to being an active participant in meals that he will sometimes leap before looking...and end up ankle deep in oatmeal or cereal!

Oh my gosh I am sooooo jealous of you! ... because you have 2 tiels AND a GCC. I have 2 tiels also but would LOVE to get a GCC one day... do your tiels get along ok with your GCC? You have what I hope to have one day... :D

Was your GCC raised with your tiels or did you get your GCC once he was slightly older?

I've never had any luck getting decent watermelon in FL :( ... when I lived in southern CA I did and definitely when I lived in Budapest, Hungary the produce there was to DIE for. Tomatoes were so good and flavorful you would eat them like apples!

Try feeding BB is fav snack or food with your fingers... and ONLY offer it to him that way. Coconut now associates food being fed to him by my fingers to be a special treat hehe ;)

The three of them get along, to varying degrees! The GCC and older male cockatiel are deeply bonded, they groom each other & worry (loudly) if one of us leaves their room with the other bird as a passanger. We introduced Buddy and the GCC when she was about a year old? That's when my boyfriend and I moved in together. They had a few play dates before then. It took about 6 months for them to bond.

The other cockatiel, the younger female, likes Bud and stands near him a lot, but he won't let her touch him. She gets broody often, and when she lays eggs, Queequeg (the GCC) helps her sit on them! If both girls are out of the nest box, Buddy will go sit on them. It's funny, because the eggs are infertile.

We don't cage our birds (with the exception of the goffin's we're fostering), which I think made everything a success, because they have established their own boundaries, and are free to fly away if they are uncomfortable with things. There is a huge cage in their room that they hang out in or sleep on sometimes, but otherwise they usually like to look out their windows, or dig up my houseplants, haha. Sorry for writing you a novel!

Thanks for the detailed response! :D

Now I am even more jealous than before LOL You are SUPER lucky that your tiel gets along with your GCC. My 4 yr old tiel will NEVER get along with any bird no matter who that other bird is. I now realize he is truly a solitary bird... and since he was such a jerk to my new 5 month old tiel he has taught my new tiel to FEAR, hate and be aggressive towards other birds. I worry about this because I hope my new tiel will NOT be same towards the GCC when I get one.

I also don't keep my tiels in a cage unless I leave the house which is rarely since I work from home... except now I can only have one out of cage at a time because my new tiel can't handle my old tiel scaring him (kept sending him into spook flights) and he injured himself badly. He needs more time getting experienced at flying....

A little off topic, but are you from Hungary?

Ya... I'm Hungarian/Swedish (speak fluent Hungarian). My entire family was born in Hungary but then moved to scandinavia after the communists stole everything from my grandparents!! :( I would be wealthier than wealthy now if that had not happened! Had TONS of lands they stole and today they have large shopping centers etc built on OUR land!!! Was unable to get back what was STOLEN from us!! :(

I could be RETIRED now and playing with birds all day long.... but life is a you know what.

What Chase said!

Oh that reminds me... I'm jealous of you also LOL... because I've always had this desire to have a conure or slightly larger bird than a tiel but have always been afraid to for fear of my tiel getting injured. I know I'm super compatible with tiels and fear the unfamiliar... never had anything but tiels before and a budgie when I was a kid. :56: :)

I cannot wait until I get get a baby GCC... right now it's not the right time... need to focus on work I would end up playing with birds all day long and not getting anything done since I work from home. :34:

Speaking of GCC, there is a person near me selling a pair and a nice cage for only 200, I'm really considering getting them, but I might not so I can save up for something else, plus I like getting birds through rescues better :)

Nem. Tanultam magyarul az én egyetemen. :)

Cool :)

I speak fluent hungarian (it was my first language) but I must admit I do use an english to hungarian app in order to write in hungarian so I don't misspell anything. ;)

I used to go to school in Budapest many yrs ago and could read/write in hungarian but that was 20 yrs ago and I am rusty on it. Hungairan language is really cool though because anyone who speaks hungarian can read hungarian because the letters used in writing a word is the exact way it is pronounced :)

A hungairian's first time in CT would mispronounce "Greenwich" as "Green... Wich" LOL Hungarians do not make the "W" silent!!

Cool!! How exciting. I would LOVE to rescue a GCC but I plan to get a very young baby GCC so that the GCC is "raised" with my tiels to hopefully increase the chances that the GCC won't want to kill my tiels. Otherwise I would totally rescue one instead :)

Have you looked at any of those GCCs yet they are selling for $200? Could be dangerous if you knw what I mean LOL

I hadn't gone to see them, but it was 200 for the cage and both birds. If I didn't have my eyes set on getting a mini macaw soon I'd really consider getting them
