Kiwi-3 year old Nanday Conure, Loui-5 year old Gold-capped Conure!
I have no idea whats happened! We recently moved into a new house and things were fine. All of a sudden Kiwi has started attacking me! He bit my fingers, arms, and hands when I tried to get him out of his cage to put him on his playpen. I tried to pet him and he bit my finger, and he then tried to bite my lip because I was looking at him. I dont know what happened!! Why the sudden aggression towards me when everything was going so well before? Even Loui has started to act a little aggressive. I dont know what happened but I'm very worried. Any one out there have any ideas as to what could have caused this?? I want my Kiwi baby back and he's just plain mean right now. Honestly I think he's worse now than he was when I first got him. :confused:

Breeding season or adjustment period?

Their breeding hormones go a little crazy in the spring, he could also be going through puberty, a very very crazy time in a birds life.

As others have mentioned, hormones may be at play. It might be best to give plenty of space and only work with him on his terms. If he attempts to bite, walk away and let him be for a while. Conures love attention. He'll come to you if he wants to be held, preened, etc. Be mindful of his pinfeathers if he's molting.

Have you noticed any other unusual experiences in your new house, eg, sudden cold chills, shivers up your spine, clanging and creaking noises, things going missing and turning up in unexpected places, your face in the mirror grinning back at you when you aren't grinning, etc?

Animals are more connected to their instinctive awareness of paranormal activities than we are.

After moving into a new house, it is just as important to call in the spiritual purification ceremonialists as it is to call in the professional cleaners.

That's what I was wondering myself!

Hmmmm....:rolleyes::rolleyes:

On a side note, do young birds get this? My persie is 4-5 months and all of a sudden he has become quite nippy and aggresive. He can be handled and sometimes he is fine but others he just puffs up and bites. He has yet to go through puberty so I wouldn't have though hormones would come into it but then im no avian expert!

I would not rule out paranormal activity!!! In the old farm house I've lived in had a ghost living within that picks at my conures and freaks them out they go hide. I had friends who didn't believe me until they saw his shadow like figure move about the house......

Not to disagree with anyone here because I value everyone's opinion but I'm going to have to go with the hormonal thing or just having a bad day because now he's letting me hold him and pet him again. Even talking and saying new phrases like.."momma loves you". And I've not noticed anything outside of the normal in this house..no grinning faces..no noises, nothing missing etc. Just a normal house with 7 people and 4 birds. Same as it has always been lol. But thanks for your input.
