When Paco started loving his foot toys a little too much on the floor of his cage instead of saying "mating behavior" we started saying that Paco is doing the "clucky chicken." It sounds so much better, and funnier, when my sons friends ask what he is doing down there? We just say "oh, its nothing, Paco is just doing the clucky chicken." They just shrug and walk away.

We just call it " the wiggle" our cockatiel " lucky" does this on the top of the drapes, cockatiel "baby" really "likes" my Hand. he will grip my thumb and "wiggle" on the first knuckle of my index finger.
My YNA "bingo" usually uses the back of my hand but sometimes my foot if he is on the floor.
I have heard/read it's not good encourage this behavior. That may be but I figure for a bird that is "forced " to live in a cage much of the time they should be allowed as much enjoyment as possible.

I can't print what we call it around here. Harlots ,, that's what the girls turn in to. Shameless

My Hunter gets VERY vocal while she.... well, you know.... and my son's GF was here, and after she heard her 'at it' the third time she asked what that noise was, and what Hunter was doing. :54: (She's 22, the GF, not the bird)

We all looked at each other, kind of stomped for words. Mind you, she has a 12 year old GCC hen whose never done this.:54:

Our silence and us exchanging 'funny' looks must have given it away because she said: "No, she's not! THAT often? Poor girl." Poor girl??? Poor girl?????? Hunter's done it enough so that my Sam (male DYH) has picked up the identical noise. Yes, it's awkward. :52: But we don't have a cute name for 'it' yet. LOL.

We came up with clucky chicken because when it first happened, I was not prepared to tell my son what Paco was really doing in there!
