Kiwi has gotten very loud this last week, every time I leave the room she screams and makes a funny noise. when I'm right next to her she dances around with her wings out, head looking up and shaking it back and forth. is it for my attention or some kind of mating thing?

She's a white-fronted zon. kiwi was been with me for about 3 weeks, she will take food from my hands but want step up. so when you say play don't know if she really wants to.

NO matter what the reason is - don't forget that playing with your Kiwi doesn't have to involve you having her step up to you :) There's a lot of interactive activities you can do with her.

My B&G likes to play with a hat that I'll throw to him then he'll throw it back.He also likes it when I dance with him and play tug-o-war with a rope.He doesn't even step up and we just play on his cage :)

It does sound like he wants to play. Just be careful. Parrots are very smart and know how to train their owners! It's happened to me with a military macaw that I had. She would make a sound and I would go check on her. She had a handicap and I was a bit over protective I guess. But it finally dawned on me what she was doing. So, I trained myself not to be so over protective.
