What does it mean when a parrot hold one of our fingers?

Mango - Poicephalus Jardine
So Mango's lately letting me scratch his head neck and wing tops. I also noticed he started holding my scratching finger and sometimes he friendly bites it. First I thought he does it whn he wants me to stop touching him, but sometimes he puts his head against my finger after holding my finger so this is to be excluded.
I also noticed he opens his wings a little bit (just a little bit) and one time, he has out his weight on my finger (probably trying to step up).
I can't let him step up on my finger, I know if he did he'll just fall, I'm really clumsy.
Anyway, does it mean anything when our fids hold our fingers? And can anyone tdll me some major body language acts that can be helpful? (Or a link to a site listing them)
Thank you loads!

I've taken a screenshot from a video of my scratching him, noticed the lowered wings. Here he didn't try to step up or anything

When I first started visiting dealers to get a feel for different species, a certain rb2 used to hold my finger through the cage bars whenever I visited. I ended up taking that bird home with me... now she does it whenever I'm late for work and trying to say goodbye to her, as if to say "you're not leaving me are you?".

I've had other birds do it to me as well, always cockatoos for some reason. It's a really heart melting behavior, as I'm sure they're well aware...

Marley likes to hold one of my fingers against her tongue in her beak while I am scratching her head. She is closing her eyes while she is doing it, so I assume she likes it. Unfortunately sometimes she likes it too much and starts making these "hormonal" sounds....
Opening wings slightly could be a sign of regular or hormonal excitement, depending on the sounds, I think.
But don't take my words for it, I have her for about 2 months now, so I am learning.......:54:

Purely because of how he's got his wings in that picture, I'd think that he's acting hormonal with you, but that's obviously just one picture from a video you have, so can't say much more. Holding fingers is generally what Merlin does when he tries to get 'in position' for mating with my hand.

Othertimes, it's "I want to step up now, so I'll just hold on a while until you let me". Charlie does this.

Sometimes, it's just a case of "I wanna hold on to you!". Merlin does this when he's fussy and cuddly.

What is 'acting/being hormonal with you' supposed to mean? And his nails aren't clipped and sometimes it really (reaaaaally) hurts ! I hate clipping in general but I'll never get to make him step up unless I trim his nails? Or it won't matter?

With Alice she's a fair bit bigger, and can wrap her toes around my whole finger. It's a very gentle thing and she doesn't do anything after, just holds on for a few seconds.

If you don't want to clip his nails you could try a perch that's designed to help trim his nails, but I'm not clued up onto what materials you could source locally that might help with this. I'm sure there must be something you could put in his cage that would help take the edge off them - mind you, Alice has the shop bought nail trimming perches and I could swear they just hone them to a sharper point!

I've never had a male bird and I'm sure someone will explain hormonal behavior better than I, but isn't Mango pretty young at the moment?

My blue front holds my finger when I'm making a fuss of her, she's usually all fluffed up an soppy, it could be a 'I'm feeling content' thing.

My Quaker parrot Ralph likes to "hold hands" with me when he's in his cage and we're talking with each other, or playing some of the games Ralph invented. I think he just likes to have some physical contact with me when he can't be perched on me.

He LOVES doing this and ever since he seems me in the room he runs to the nearest perch to start this, I feel like he wants me to hold him and I'll do that probably tomorrow in the afternoon. If you got any tips, tricks please tell me ! He was shy the last time he got out and didn't accept the touches

All I can say about that is, let him out. Be with him in the room. Talk to him as normal, approach slowly. If he backs away do force attention on him, if he's ok slowly show him your hand an move it closer a bit at a time. He has to step up on his terms. If you force it he'll remember. Oh and always TRY and stay calm. Hard to if they nip tho hey!!! :p

You've heard about “the birds and the bees”? Well, that's the “birds” part.
