what does a parrot know about PTSD

All animals are more in tune than some people realize or will admit. I have a Jack Russel . He can tell when my asthma is acting up before I can. He will get close enough to me and lean. I learned years ago to pay attention to him. I ward off any attack if I do. I also cut back in my med's because of this.

Great Article Thanks

Yes I know that most all animals and certainly the ones higher on the intelligence scale have the 6th sense ability to read your mind or know your intentions often before you do. We humans have lost that sense long ago and maybe we never had it. Man has dominance over the animal kingdom but the animals have the 6th sense. I have direct proof of it daily when interacting with my flock.

Humans have not lost this so called sixth sense. It is fully in place and active. Far too many humans choose not be pay attention to it - way to busy to notice, let alone care. We use the noise of our every day life to block it out.

Silence your life for an hour and you will be surprised at what you are and have been missing. Your next meeting with someone you know, use all your senses to hear, see and feel what that person is telling you - not just their words. It may just surprise you!

It's so sad that so many people (not the ones on this forum of course!) think of birds as pretty, but dumb "decorations". They are highly intelligent and very in tune with their owners. Their higher level of intelligence gives them the ability to react to our emotional state and even to empathize with us.

I will not go into too much detail, but I had serious issues as a teen. I managed to hide a lot of things from everyone around me. My mom's DYH though (who took to me the day I was born) ALWAYS knew what was up, even when no one else did. She reacted too, in a very concerned and comforting manner. She is the definition of a loyal friend. I still miss living with her every day. She helped me through so much. I love Kiwi, but we do not share the same bond, though he too is very in tune with our moods, emotions and health.

Parrots are one of the most empathic creatures on the face of this planet. This doesn't surprise me at all...
