Parrots
Tango, cockatiel (Affectionately referred to as "Tango-bird", "birdy-guy", and more!)
I'm afraid that's probably a really silly question, but I learned a long time ago that I'd rather look silly for a few seconds in someone's eyes than sit with a burning, nagging question. :D

I googled it but all I got were results for LOTS of posts where people use the phrase and no explanation of it! Is it an acronym? A type of bird? Please at least tell me it's perfectly normal for a new bird owner to be out of the loop on this. ;)

(ETA: You can imagine I was doubly mortified when a search in the forums did not reveal anyone else asking what this means... o_O)

Oh that's so cute!! So I can call my Tango-guy "my fid" also! Thank you, JerseyWendy, for replying and for the birdy abbreviations link! ^_^

Ha, I've been groping with "FIDS" too since I joined this forum. I thought I'd eventually see the light but someone's put me out of my misery. Thanks for asking the burning question, Chasy!

Hee hee! You're welcome! ;)

I remember posting the same question, a few years back, and feeling the same way as you Chasy. Luckily, most folks don't judge us for not knowing all the answers! :)

Hehehe....
I had the same question, don't feel bad. Thank you for asking!!!
I had an idea, but didn't know for sure. I spent a lot of time on the orchid forum where orchid growing people call their orchids "chids", so I had a hint.......:p
I just thought I could live a little longer without knowing for sure.
Thank you Chasy and Wendy!

Well! Stepping out and looking silly can really pay off sometimes! ^_^

Or FURRED kids!

But yes, generally feathered kids here :p

I call my furred kids "fur babies". And now I know what to call my birds :)

I think I've read too much Junie B. Jones because I just add "guy" to everything. Noah-guy, Tango-guy...baby-guys...LOL

I always took "FIDS" to mean an abbreviation for "Flying Kids" but Feathered Kids make sense too. Either/Or

FIDS, feathered kids, a phrase used when the unsuspecting human realises that it is too late, responsibilty has been placed and the parrot has completed phase 1 of the 'no option' take over of the humans life.
