So I am getting an IRN baby next year. The breeder only breeds blues and violets so I have my heart set on a blue because I just love the color. I posted on another thread I started that I have never had a parrot before. Well I haven't, not a true parrot but I did grow up around cockatiels, budgies, lovebirds and other small birds. I just rehomed my hens a while ago because my guinea was stressing them out and I love my guinea more so they had to go. Now that i dont have chickens t spoil and watch all day i thought maybe an indoor companion woukd be nice and since i love anything feathered a parrot woukd be awesome. My guineas are very independent and though they dont mind me being out with them they also like to wonder off eating bugs, lizards and whatever they find and i dont lije to be there when they do that. Noise isnt a problem because i have guineas and i dont think anything could top their screaming. I visited my friend (yeah that friend who was going to get a bird from an online site) and she adopted a bird from a bird rescue in ca. Its an ARN and its really sweet. I have researched the bird I plan on getting and have been visiting bird swaps, etc to have some time with the specific breed so I know what I am getting into. The only problem is the cage. I want to get a big cage for him but am conflicted as to what cage I should get.
These are the cages I am interested in:
1. Prevue Pet Products Wrought Iron Flight Cage with Stand F040 Black Bird Cage, 31-Inch by 20-1/2-Inch by 53-Inch
This cage is made for finches, canaries, and other small birds so my question is, would it house an Indian ringneck well? Or would it be unsuitable?
2. New Large Double Ladders Open Play Top Wrought Iron Bird Parrot Parttot Finch Macaw Cockatoo Cage, Include Seed Guard and Toy Hook,
The dimensions for the interior are 24" x 22" x 35"
3. Various really large cages on Craigslist but they are used.
4. A cage from a pet store
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
