I want a yellow nape amazon but before I do the purchase of the bird i want to have everything all set up. So my question is,:green2: what cage do you wonderful parronts have for your babies!!!:green2:

This is the Cage I have for Codie, but I dont have the top open, I have a fixed Playstand on it.. You have the option when you put it together to have it either way, plus it has the Cabinet for storage, which I find very useful:)

Hunter is on the cage on the left. It's a Kings Cage Model #406

My DYH is in one like this, except it's a dometop:

Our Amazon is in a cage similar to Wendy's one on the right, but a little less wide. She is never in it though, since her wings are clipped and she hangs out on a perch attached to the top 95% of the time.

Thanks guys I am having hard time deciding on which cage to choose and I would also like to know what do you guys use to cover the cage at night. I was looking at getting a nice large balck blanket. Should I have any concerns about hazard when purchasing this.. you guys are great

None of mine get covered at night.

When we had Hunter in another room I decided to cover her, to give her more quiet and dark time. I used a big old fleece blanket. Blanket lasted under a week. Hunter chewed her way through it.

Likewise, we don't cover our Amazon. She just closes her eyes and hunkers down on her perch, and we turn the lights off. I have a feeling she'd get pretty upset if we did.

I only use covers made for bird cages, because that if you use blankets for humans sometimes the birds will try to chew on it sometimes the blanket has strings sticking out which the birds will start chewing pulling ect.. I find this a choking hazard. But of course its your choice. You could just daily inspect it for strings and make sure that the birds can't get to the blanket. Sometimes the blankets stick out between the bars of the cage. If you want a cage cover for bird cages you could go to,
Birdcages4less.com

They also have bird food, toys, cages, covers and a bunch of other stuff

I also need a new cage for my Amazon. When we rescued her, she was in a tiny cage (maybe 20 ins across) and never allowed to leave. Now she still likes this little cage as her retreat, but she spends 90% of her time climbing around it to eat from foraging toys, hanging out on top of it, and climbing over to a java tree stand next to it. All was well, until...

She is now comfortable enough to go wandering in the room, particularly when we are not there. Yesterday, my husband came into the room and found her walking across the top of the piano. Yes, the very same (beautiful) piano that she climbed into from the back (against the wall!) last week and started chewing! [Grrrr...] At least she didn't make it over to the harps. Anyway, we now need a cage large enough for her to stretch and play in a contained space if we aren't around. I keep hoping to find a used one but haven't yet. What is the least expensive acceptable option?
