O, so you may have seen some posts that I had on the conure and caique forum about choosing a bird. Of all the parrots, what bird is the most quiet? So far I've heard it's the parrotlet, correct me if im wrong

as im sure your probably aware, all birds are different. Sometimes you will find really quiet birds, sometimes they will be loud. My friend has a conure and he rarely ever squaks/talks but the conure i had was the most annoying little squaker ever.

i think as a general rule, the smaller the bird the quieter they will be.

But, quiet is all relative... Ive had parakeets that made noise almost alll day, but it was a quitier chirping that was almost soothing. My conures squak wasn't rediculously loud, but he squaked all the time. My Amazon will let out incredibly loud squaks for like 30 seconds a couple times every day, but for the most part he just likes to talk and whistle when im home. Even though my conures squak isn't as loud as the amazons, i still say he is the loudest because he does it all the time.

Are you wondering the noise because you live in an apartment? With my amazon i could never live in an apartment because when i wake up at 6:30ish he lets out an enormous squak because he is happy. So, you have to decide which kind of noise you can handle.

My African Gray Timneh is quiet most of the time except if someone she does not know comes in the door and approaches the cage.

Mishka my African Grey talks non-stop all day. She is almost two years old.
She wakes up at 4.30am with me, rattle on and on for about 30 minutes, then breakfast......THEN all hell breaks loose.
I am fortunate to work from home, she is my entertainment 24/7.
I would say during the day she is still for about an hour, BUT what a pleasure.
We chat, sing and talk all day.
Maybe I am one of the very lucky people to have a bird who runs like a Duracell battery LoL.
Take care

That bird from the movie Dumb and Dumber was pretty quite but all kidding aside our Severe Macaw is generally quite except that my morning routine has me spending about 45 min to an hour at the same time every day. So if for whatever reason if I am running late she'll be screaming louder than the someone who justed invested all there cash into Dodgers World Series shirts-Go Phils!

I think that African Greys can go either way because I volunteer at a rescue and we have one quiet and one not. I think that my vote would be for a Green Cheek Conure they have had alot of those and they were quiet but I am comparing them to Macaws and Cockatoos. lol! Lovebirds are quiet but their squawk isn't that bad. I have 2 lovebirds, 2 parakeets, 1 amazon, 5 cockatiels. I am new to the world of birds but learning.

I went to a bird show last month and you could hear the parrotlets all over the large room. They were not quiet!!
