He also follows me around the house & calls 4 my attention when ever I over look/pass him.He has also climed a flight of 12 stairs just to get to my room (he knows how to make me feel special & loved) LoL. I would like to hear of things that u share with ur parrot that makes ur bond with them really special.I enjoy hearing your stories. Our feathered friends really have a way to make us feel special :jumping40

Aw, what a cute story!

I have had Ricco (G2) for almost two months now, which may not seem like much time, but gosh it feels like we've known eachother forever! He is truly my heart and soul! My main concern when getting a bird was that I was afraid he or she wouldn't bond to me. Well, the exact opposite happened. He bonded to me and ONLY me and he HATES everyone else. Hahaha. Which is alright since I'm the one that cleans his cage, gives him baths, feeds him, etc. I'm his only caregiver. Sooo that's alright by me!

Anyway, we take showers together. I haven't had one shower alone since I brought him home! Which is great, he's a great shower buddy! We take drives in the car together, he has his own birdie carseat. We eat together, he shares my food as long as it's healthy, which it usually is. I don't salt anything, ever. Lol. We do pretty much everything together!

I worried that Puck liked other people better than me, because he was so outgoing, but if he was scared or nervous, he'd go to me. At nighttime, he would snuggle up in my pajamas. He was very social at the last party I took him to, but when he got tired, it was MY sweater that he climbed into and fell asleep in.

Right before he passed away, when he wasn't feeling good, all he wanted to do was snuggle in my sweater.:(

I love the name Seaweed, so cute
You two do share a special bond, that much is obvious.

Mishka and myself, have the most wonderful relationship, words can't describe how we have bonded. He is the love of my life.

Mishka begins the day by kissing me, telling me he loves me.

Asking me if I eat my biscuits and drank my coffee LoL
While having his formula, making the most beautiful yummy sounds.
Telling me he is a good boy.....because he poopied in his potty.

Watching him play in his cage, going through all the loops, walking along the chains, swinging on his swing whilst whistling.

Sharing our food, offering each other bits and pieces.

Going through many rough periods during the last year, him always asking me "Mommy what's wrong, I love you mommy, I want to kiss you".

In his little mind, he understood what was going on, always comforting me.

When coming home from work, I am brought to tears, he continuously calls me and tells.... mommy mommy I missed you today, of course I missed you today, mommy is a good mommy, I love mommy.

Sitting together at night, him on my lap, having the most wonderful conversations.

Words can't ever describe my love for Mishka

We were meant for each other

My gorgeous male eckie 'boogie' bonded with me at around 6 months of age...I remember distinctly the moment..as something magical happened when I was crouching on the floor reading the paper and he climbed down from his cage, waddled over to me and rested his beak on the tip of my nose...we stayed like that for 2 or 3 minutes...nose to nose..eye to eye..I believe this was our bonding moment, because from that day on, he has been close to me whenever he can... He follows me around the house, no matter what room I'm in, we shower together always, and he comes to work with me on warm days ( I own a cafe) and he still rests his beak on my nose from time to time...gazing into my eyes. The bonding experience is certainly a special one! I will always remember that first time! Love hearing other bonding moments.

Aw I love all these stories very beautiful! :)

I remember the first moment when Audrey finally decided to warm up to us. I was sitting down on the couch with my family ready to watch a movie and for the first time Audrey flew down to me and sat on me, snuggling up to me the entire time. Now she's like my little follower, everywhere I am she wants to be, always up for a snuggle and a cuddle. Even those times where I just want some me time, nope, Audrey comes flapping over for a cuddle haha :p
Even after these past few days when I've had to medicate her (which isn't fun for her at all) after being toweled and syringe fed this horrible medicine she still comes right up to me for a snuggle, holding no grudges <3 Not yet anyway lol!!
Its really amazing how much you can bond to a bird. I've had pets of all sorts over the years, and I have loved them dearly and bonded with them, but with Audrey it just seem's different! She has my whole heart!

Welcome aboard. Wonderful story. There is no love or affection like that shown by a pet. Truly unconditional...

I couldnt agree with you more! Seaweed has taken over my heart & home lol.Thats really encouraging to hear that after being toweled she was able to get over it quickly. I have to take seaweed to the vet to get his toe nails trimmed, not the 1st time he goes but I dont really like that he doesnt like it lol. I just bought 2 pumice perches 4 him in hopes that the toe nail trim visits can be a thing of the past.Do u trim/file Audreys Toe nails urself? I would venture to try it but Ive never/filed cut a parrots nails b4,dogs yes all the time, being a vet tech for 10 yrs.I can do anything to my dogs but birds are new 4 me lol.:p I read in the past threads that Audrey wasnt feeling well.I hope shes feeling better.Shes a beautiful parrot :red: Thanks 4 sharing ur story with me.I really enjoyed it :)

Hi seaweed! You are just a darling bird to love your mummy and daddy so much! Yes...boogie is the same..loving, attentive and affectionate. My husband jack originally wanted an eclectus, and purchased boogie from a reputable breeder here in Australia, hoping to have a long loving relationship. I wasn't so interested in birds, having never owned one ( I'm was more a cat person) but boogie chose me! And ignores my husband completely ( my husband is now resigned to this fact : ( and o.k with it) I am completely in love with boogie and he with me...it's such a wonderful bond...and difficult to explain to other people, just how powerful and special it is...I'm so happy you guys have this connection with seaweed! Beautiful! I look forward to hearing more about your gorgeous boy!

These are great stories. It's true that "non-bird-people" don't understand the depth of the relationship one can have with a bird, or their capability for emotional intelligence. Sometimes I miss Casady so much when I am away from her I'll say it right out loud without even thinking about it, and sometimes people will regard me strangely or question how someone can miss a bird...

Through her vocalizations and body language Casady communicates her desires pretty well, and I always try to listen. I think she was truly happy when I figured out that she likes me to crush the ends of her pinfeathers between my tumbnail and index finger...she closes her eyes and settles back into my hand. That's when we really started to bond, once I figured out the preening thing. She likes to be held like an ice cream cone, with her feet reasting on my thumb. If I don't wrap my fingers around her, she'll whine until I do. She loves to rub her face on mine, it is too cute.

I did trim Audrey's nails at first, I found it similar to trimming cat or rabbit nails, only difference is you can't see the blood inside their nails so its a bit more difficult, but I was just taking off the sharp tips. Now she has some pedicure perches as well and I don't have to do it anymore :)
Audrey is back to herself now, such a happy girl singing again which is great! The vet check this coming weekend will tell me if the medication has been successful but I'm thinking that it has! :)

I knew when Mi amigo had bonded with me when I could trust him, unconditionally, not to bite me or threaten me with his beak, in any way. I love this bird with all my heart and just hope and pray that we die on the same day, at the same moment, I can't even say that about my husband!!

I can't even say that about my husband!!

You been talking to my wife behind my back Mare?!??!! :p

The bond is REALLY hard to explain, it has to be experienced. My bond with ReaRea and even Miri is great, the bond the wife has with the Zon's is scary almost. Wife can handle the GW's but oh ^&#$ me handling the Zon's is a pain.

About a year and a half ago I came home from work and there was a little parrot in the kitchen with my wife. I had previously had a cockatiel for a few months and had very basic knowledge of bird care. I told it to step up and took it into the living room, putting it on the arm of the sofa. We "talked" for about 45 minutes and I then put it back in the kitchen. I did that the next two nights. The fourth morning my wife tried to move it and it bit her, drawing blood. I named her Carla and she is still here. She tolerates my wife, but spends most of the time I'm home on my shoulder. When I go on business trips I have to call her everyday, Carla, not my wife. The only time she has bitten me drawing blood was when I tried to take her off my shoulder. One of my co-workers said that if someone met my wife they would say "Leslie? I thought your name was Carla!"

My relationships with my babies are all different. Jules was my first and she's a handful. She has attitude for days, but she'll go to anyone. I know that when I'm making breakfast for them that if I'm not fast enough, she's going to fly down and walk into the kitchen to sit on top of my foot until I get finished. She's very bossy like that. With Buju, he's my rescue Meyer's who doesn't have a mean bone in his body. I have to be very gentle with him because of his past, but he loves me I think mainly because he knows that I saved him. And then there's Micah who absolutely bonded with me the moment I brought him home. He flies all over the place trying to find me, loves to cuddle and lean into my neck as close as he can. He also presses his beak against my lips and will stay there as long as I let him lol.
