I've been thinking of getting a paid membership to the forums and on the informational page it says something about helping support the site, do I have any special duties that I have to do or do I just get the things listed on the page?

It just means that we paid I think it was $10 or $15 a year to financially support the forum. It also gives you perks like extra storage space for PMs. There's a thread somewhere ... I'll have to find it... and I'll link it for you.

Or is it just the $10 a year that supports the site?

Yup it is that easy! lol. I was shocked its only $10 i would have paid more... This site is a life saver... probably literally. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, I would have paid more to help this site.

Agree on that one!!! I'm on other forms for my other animals and they are not as helpful or quick to respond ...like I posted I needed help with one over weight and one very old sugar glider( I have 8) no one has responded..it's been a few months and now that post isn't even seen. I like it here!

I like it here too. There is a tarantula forum i joined that i really like too, TarantulasUS. But i dont visit anywhere near as often as parrot forums. These two are the only forums i have found where everyone is nice and fast to respond and is helpful. Ive joined a lot of forums and i usually dont stay long. People can be very mean...

I like here too, which is why I became supporting member. Others forums can get exhausting after awhile when you see others getting picked on or nit picked all the time. Sours the forum and adds a negative vibe to it.

This is a terrific forum that has value far beyond entertainment and socializing. It is a brain-trust of information that will enrich the relationship with our feathered companions and possibly save their lives.

I have no clue whether ad revenue is sufficient to operate a forum, but the supporting member fee is trivial compared with the enjoyment derived!

I have no idea why it took me so long to look into supporting memberships, but I finally did! It's quick, easy, and only $9.99!!!

Just giving this thread a boost.
It's only $9.99, and even though I was given an honorary supporting membership as the result of a POTM contest, I feel better after joining. It's very easy to pay using PayPal or other methods. :)
