Not to sound too stupid but I have a question about the problems drafts can cause for birds. In the past we lived in the northern climat and understand that a cold draft could cause a proble to especaly a younger birds. We had two double Yellows. However now we are living in Panama. We are happy to say that we are the proud new owners of a seven month old african grey. The climate is hot and humid. We seldome use air-conditioning. However we do like to keep the doors and windows open ( with screens) and use cieling fans to keep things cool. Yes I know the hazzards of the cieling fans. My question is with the brereze coming through the house or the cieling fans is this going to be a problem for our new baby???????

I can't imagine how it would. The problem with drafts is in cooler climates. Birds bodies are not wired to handle a cold breeze - but they are certainly wired to handle breeze when it is in their home climate. They don't naturally have walls in the wild.

That said in nature they do have many ways of sheltering themselves if they ever do become uncomfortable. If there is furniture about, or a happy hut, or nearly anything they should be fine.

Lastly the only other issue is when you say "new baby" if it really is a baby then things may be different - in nature they'd have their parents to keep them warm. So very young birds may still get a chill even in warm climates - however this should only be a concern for breeders as if they are old enough to be weened they should be fine.

Thanks that is what I was thinking but I just want to be careful. She is seven months old by the way.
