On Saturday I went with a group of falconers to a amazing condor fundraiser! Was so much fun and absolutely amazing! met some wonderful people, new falconers, and Dolly the condor ambassador. One person donated $22,000 and another $5,000 to help the ventana wildlife society protect these beautiful and extremely intelligent birds. The birds handler, Mike Clark, was fun to talk to, he's also a falconer and flies a golden eagle. He said the new world vultures are extremely smart and manipulative, almost like parrots. Old world are similar to raptors, very instinctive and don't think about things.
The most amazing thing is that right at the beginning of the event, we saw a WILD California condor fly overhead! Was so cool considering we were at a fundraiser for them!
and here's your side of condor
Here's a beautiful imprint Saker falcon owned by a friend of mine. She is a sweet heart
this peregrine demanded to sit on this rock and not on it's perch. Was a great photo opportunity for many people.
The raptor display
panorama of raptor display. Shaymus is on the middle round perch in front of the woman on the wheelchair.
amazing view
Shaymus with the beautiful view a a backdrop. Took him around several times and talked with lots of people about him. he was photographed more times than I can count lol
I thought about flying Shaymus, but to many tempting falcons I had to worry about him hurting. So here he is with a little drop after eating.
