I have 2 adopted weiros/cockatiels. They are indoors at the moment because I'd like them to be a bit tamer and get used to me. The cage they are in is a reasonable size, they could each have quite a bit of room if they wanted, they aren't all scrunched up because of the room in there. Anyway, one of them sits/sleeps on a swing. I saw them having a bit of a tussle and I thought they were fighting over the swing, so I got another (and put one of the budgies' in there as well). They could each sleep on a swing or a perch, but one of the is gripping the side of the cage next to the one on the swing. They were again having what looked like a bit of a tussle and these seem to be intermittent. I don't know what's going on, whether he wants her off so he can have it, or whether he wants to get on there with her, or what.....

Can he be comfortable sleeping clutching onto the side of the cage? If not, how can I get him to sleep somewhere better? Should I take the swing out if it's a "bone of contention" or should I just let them sort it out if they are fighting over it?

Any insight into what is going on and what (if anything) I should do about it would be very welcome, thanks.

So what I'm hearing is that you did have 2 tiwls in the same cage with 1 swing but they fought over it so you added another swing and then put another bird in there with still 2 swings and there's fighting again.? I would add a 3rd swing then. However, I wouldn't put a budgie with tiels.

No, there's no third bird - where I said that I'd put one of the budgies' in there I was referring to one of the budgies' swings, not one of the budgies. Sorry for the confusion. There are 2 birds, and 3 swings. One is smaller (but not tiny, they could still use it), 2 are weiro sized. I'm not sure whether they are fighting over that one swing or what Tony's problem is. It doesn't look like a fight, more "a few words" or a "bit of a tiff". I don't understand what the problem is. Maybe I'll take the swings out and put in another rope perch?

Idk then. I have 2 male tiels and they require separate cages for that same reason. It's unfortunate but they get along better when they're out now. They just need their own space.

They just need their own space.
That's just the thing, there's heaps of space, they both seem to want to be in the exact same spot :D

I put their rope perch in, and moved a wooden perch up near the swings. I'll see what they do tonight. Tony was on a perch this morning, I suspect he doesn't stay attached to the bars all night, but moves to a more sensible spot when the lights go out.
