So, I was looking at baby macaws today (just googling pics) when I saw a lutino one!
Well, clicking on the website, I find out someone produced 5 lutino blue & gold macaws, BY ACCIDENT! Lol. Here's a link (including photos!):

So I realized, as parrots are becoming more and more popular and working towards domestication, new mutations are coming out all the time! Like red African grays.

So if you know of any cool variations to pretty standard-colored birds (like a scarlet macaw) then please post!

And we can go on and on and on about ALL kinds of mutation colorings in different types. They were bred to be through pairing up certain pairs and inbreeding. Those also come with a high price tag and also genetic defects....

Just to think of a few mutations... not including some other macaw species nor dipping into amazon species..... one mutation I really like is the blue (white crested?) sulphur crested cockatoo. Basically an all white bird, no yellow on it whatsoever. Not crazy about the lutino mutation in same species... looks the same as a regular SC2, except with red eyes, horn colored beak and feat - instead of black.

Howard Voren, who was instrumental in the early parrot trade as an importer and now as a large scale breeder, has some fun mutations, especially of Amazons. Now, many will argue over the ethics of his breeding program, but I am just posting this because of the mutations.

He has 3 new variations of amazon as well as mutations of dusky-headed conures, orange front conures, and black capped conure.

I was expecting to see a third wing or four feet...

I've seen a picture of a budgie born without a wing, and a few born with extra toes.... does that count? (granted, these are small and medium species, not large)

I love the blue eckies and the blue amazons
