Thanks to all who have been answering my posts. I have another weird observation with my newly rescued sun conure. She hates her perches. She is never on them when she is in her cage. She prefers to clutch onto the side of her cage. She isn't afraid or agitated while doing this. She even cleans her feathers here. The only time she isn't hanging on the side of her cage is when she goes to sleep in her little tent that she loves. When she is out of her cage she prefers standing on top. I can sometimes get her to step up on my fingers, probably the closest thing I have seen her step on that is similar to a perch. I provided her with 3 different types of varying textures and sizes.
If I attempt to train her and introduce a perch for her to step onto outside of the cage, she freaks and runs away. However, she will step onto one when I place he back into her cage but then immediately goes and clutches to the side.
