Pepsi and sprite, both are American male budgies
I just came back from petco for p&s supplies. My mom HATES going to the pet store , she feels very uncomfortable around animals so you could imagine what it's like to have a eleven year old daughter who likes them. In fact, I'm still wondering how she letted me have a pet. I wanted silkie chicks and i ALMOST got them, we were on the billing page then she said that i could have any other pet , so i chose some budgies. It was a bit ( ok a lot ) funny to see her on how she was trying to avoid the cats and a customers black lab. She said the smell burned her nose and I honestly have gotten used to the smell of ferret poop and cat litter. I have to go every 2-3 weeks for supplies , I usually get a bag of of nutriberries and a bag of pellets. I was just wondering about how do other bird owners do their bird shopping ? I know it depends on the bird they have, like a macaw owner might have to get a gigantic sack of pellets and a cockatiel owner will only have to get a small packet of millet, I am just a bit curious like how many items do you have to get, how frequently you have to go, what you have to get ?

Hmm... I usually go every 1 1/2 weeks-3 weeks, when food runs out. Then I get millet, 2 pounds of each type of pellet, and a few toys, maybe only one for each fid. :)

My mom hates animals as well. She doesn't abuse them or anything, just finds them messy and... stiinky. Honestly my cat's litter doesn't smell that bad. I seem to be the only knowledgable animal lover in all of my family. My dad loves parrots but only because they talk. I usually have to stop him from asking whether a new bird at our bird store talks. He keeps on asking me why we can't get a CAG. Aw I love him but he doesn't understand. :p

Luckily my mum loves animals :p and i dont go shopping, so she gets 2 stick/fruit stick thing each week and gets the pellets when i run out.. I send her an email at work saying 'heyyy mum, would you be able to go to the pet shop... ' ;)
then of course she will get a toy while she is there, but there arent any big toys in our pet shops, so we have run out of new toys to get.. i did go shopping last weekend for the first time since i've got Fargo, so he got 2 new toys, and he destroyed them in a day because they weren't that big
so its online shopping once a month :p and then i give my dad a list of fruit and vegetables each week when he does the grocery shopping haha he seems to think Fargo eats better food than us

I shop about 3 times a week. Only because I have to feed a million different pets.
I go to the pet store once a week, get crickets/woodies/meal worms for the lizards, some crickets for the scorpion, and a mouse for the snake. Sometimes I'll get a toy each for the birds but there really expensive in there. Normally I get that kind of stuff online.
Then ill go to the supermarket after work a few times a week, fruit and veggies for the lizards and birds, pallets for the birds, seeds for ticka (he wont touch anything else) and kitten food for the kitten.
So much to buy... Lol

Petco has cats, and they don't change the litter that often ... My mom doesn't abuse them but just dislikes them. My mom and dad kept saying to me " why didn't you get a macaw ? They are soo beautiful and can TALK ! " I said to them, if you knew how much money they cost and what they could do to a finger you would change your mind. My mom is always saying parakeets can't talk, but in fact the bird with the largest vocabulary in the Guinness World Record book is a budgie. My mom and dad just say they want a talking bird and they will be satisfied.

hahaha i know how you feel!
We used to have 9 horses in the same paddock and trying to feed them was a war zone :p luckily they are all split up and a few in stables now, makes it a little easier and less dangerous ;) hehe

we do most of our shopping online, and the grocery store... I think half of our grocery bill is for the animals

we buy our rabbit and guinea pig food in 25 and 50 lb bags online, order our crickets online, the degu food online, fish food online, bird food (20lbs bags of finch seed, millet and pellets) online, toy parts online, mostly from Dr Fosters and Smith and we have an Amazon Prime membership (gotta love free 2 day shipping)

the birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hampster all get fresh foods daily

I do get seed mix and some toys from a bird store about once a month

We get Lafeber's Parakeet Diet and a bag of nutriberries. And the occasional bag of avicakes and some other kind of treat. Has anybody fed they're birds dry chillies ?

there are dried chilies in the seed mix I get.. not sure if Odin likes them, I've found them on the floor of his cage

I do almost all bird shopping online.
When I first set up the cage I did get some perches from a local Petco.
Pellets-amazon
Toys-My Safe Bird Store, Blu's Bird Toys
I also got some food, a happy hut, and an aviator harness from My Safe Bird Store
Veggies and other freshies are just what I buy normally to feed the family with weekly shopping trips.-Pepper doesn't eat much compared to the kids!

I will never step foot in the large box retail pet stores. Hate them all.

I shop exclusively from: www.mysafebirdstore.com

You guys may want to give her a shot, her prices are great and her re-package from bulk offers you to have a great variety for our birds.
