I posted here about 2 yo cockatiel I adopted a little over a month ago. He came from very rough conditions, and I felt pretty hopeless after a few weeks. He was never handled, probably not hand raised, hated and bit my hands, was asocial and would just sit on one spot for hours.
I introduced him to my flock after a month of quarantine, and it amazingly changed the things! All my birds liked him (budgies were terrified at first). He was learning from them so fast - eating fresh foods, climbing and flying around, playing with toys, etc! He is still little awkward and slow compared to them, but he is improving every day. He is also less hostile to my hands because he sees how my other buddies cuddle and step up, and he started eating from my hand. He lets me pet him and when I come to him he climbs up to my chest and can sit there for a long time, even crawls under my clothes. :)

I just made a flickr account! Here some picks I want to share with you:

Looks like he's fitting right in and making new friends:D I love the picture of him in your shirt! What an adorable flock you have.

Glad to hear this. Its very possible he was lonely and depressed. Birds tend to be more trusting when they see other birds doing something.

How cute! I'm happy to hear how well he is doing. That photo of him in your shirt is just breathtaking :D Your doing a fantastic job, and doing your little guy a WONDERFUL Service!

Your whole flock looks so happy and healthy :D Your definitely a phenomenal Parront!!

I'm so glad your new flock member is doing so well. Your birds are so pretty and so lucky to have you!

Thank for asking! He is doing pretty well! :) I bought an Aviator harness for my conure, and while he is still wary of it, guess who wore it already - my cockatiel!! Although I clipped him, he still can fly pretty well, so he was flying around in the harness in our backyard. He didn't seem to mind the harness at all, and it was very easy to put on and take off. He still bites my hand out of habit - it's so funny when he first bites and then lowers his head for scratches. :D (He never bites hard). He also loves to sit and sometimes sleep on my lap and being petted. :) He is such a silly sweet bird. :D

I'm very glad you've made some progress! It always feels great when you do. Just keep being persistent showing him that your no threat, and he'll eventually {probably} end up like the others with time, attention, and love. It's been a year since I've had Kiko, and he had been so traumatized that he still doesn't let me touch him. But he's extremely happy, and that's what counts.
