I was once told that Macaws need to earn their way into heaven because they are so naughty. After living with Mini macaws and Valentino I do believe this to be true.
I love my boy I really do. He is intelligent, compassionate, loving but he can be really naughty too.
My neighbors and I are in a group lawsuit due to our homes sinking. Our slabs have sunk and the repairs are up about 90 grand. We have organized and together we are in this lawsuit with the builder, contractor and sub-contractors. Needless to say the opposing side (concrete contractor) has the right to inspect the damages done by their work and materials. So on Friday several lawyers along with mine came into my home to inspect my damage.
Valentino is in his cage eat breakfast when the door bell rang. I left in the group and instructed them "Please don't leave the door open" I also told my lawyer "The parrot is in his cage so he should not be a bother."
I excuse myself to go upstairs to my office while they all did their thing. I could hear my lawyer instructing them where to look and where the most trouble was. The most obvious place of sinking is right by the patio door which is very close to Valentino's cage. I hear them discussing about what they were looking at then suddenly Valentino says in that devil voice macaws do.
"SHUT UP!" Total silence. I hear more moving around.
"SHUT UP!" Someone said in a low voice. "Did you hear that?"
It took several moments but I could hear movement but they decided to whisper instead of talking as I could not longer make out what they were saying to each other.
Suddenly Valentino YELLS "YOUR BAD!"
The group left the house several moments later.
At first I was mortified and embarrassed but then I just had to laugh because he was telling lawyers to shut up. What a character.
I still love that boy.
Later that day I sent my lawyer an apology email. Just too funny.
